As the NFL season inches closer to the end, the final four teams remain. The Rams, Broncos, Seahawks and Patriots.
With the four teams that are left, we saw a common theme from them in the divisional round that got them in position to play for a chance to go to the Super Bowl.
Winning with defense
If you did not watch the games this past weekend, please don’t try and make this an argument.
The difference between the teams that are left and the Dallas Cowboys is that all of these teams are capable of winning football games when the offense is not playing a high level.
The Rams forced three turnovers against the Bears on the road, including an interception in overtime that set them up for a game-winning field goal.
In a game where the Pats were trailing 10-7, they had a pick-6 that gave them the 14-10 lead, and they never looked back. They proceeded to have four interceptions in that game against the Houston Texans.
Say what you want about the call in overtime that helped the Broncos beat the Bills, they would not have been in that situation if it was not for forcing FIVE total turnovers in that game to beat Josh Allen.
They picked him off twice and forced three fumbles, and do we really need to talk about what the Seahawks’ defense did to the 49ers? Held them to a total of 6 points. Yeah, we don’t even need to talk about that.
We saw the defense of all these teams last weekend make plays when they needed to make plays to help them win all of these football games because the offense, on the other hand, was not perfect like everyone expects Dak Prescott to be.
Drake Maye and Matt Stafford, who are going to finish in the top two in the MVP voting, had a defense that helped them win these games in the playoffs, but we still have some people who think wins are strictly a quarterback stat, and it blows my mind.
The Dallas Cowboys have to nail this defensive coordinator hire and get the right guys in the building to help them do what these four teams showed last week.
They have two first round picks that they need to hit on in the draft. I still think that they could trade the second pick in the first round at pick no. 20, but expect them to take the top linebacker or safety that is on the board at pick no. 12.
We will see how the two title games go, but if I had to pick right now with Bo Nix out with a broken foot, the Pats are clearly going to win the AFC, and man that game between the Rams and Seahawks is going to be great.
I think the Rams will be able to score a little bit better than the 49ers just because of the guys they have outside, but it going to come down to the defense.
Can the Rams get enough stops, or will Seattle at home do they have been doing all year and shut the best offense down in football?
I like the Rams to win this game and honestly win the Super Bowl.
1 TD allowed
9 sacks
66 pressures
6 takeaways
Nonetheless, the defense of these teams is why they are playing this weekend, and if you watched the games you will understand.
This offseason is critical for the Cowboys, they have to get this defense right if they want a chance at all, and if they don’t, we will be right in the same spot as this season.
