Breaking News: Cowboys Release Taco Charlton

The Dallas Cowboys have released former 2017 first-round pick Taco Charlton according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Charlton only managed seven starts during his time with the Cowboys. The production wasn’t what you would want to see from a former first-rounder as he totaled only 46 tackles and 4 sacks. He was inactive in each of the Cowboy’s first two games this season. The Cowboys were trying to find trade partners for Charlton over the course of the last few days but nothing materialized. Now, he will hit waivers and look for a fresh start with a new team.

This is a rare miss for the Cowboys front office in the first round, though, considering they have done an excellent job snagging talent early since 2010 when they drafted Dez Bryant. There were high hopes for Charlton but now he and the Cowboys have parted ways.
