In a shocking development. Randy Gregory's reported new 5-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys is no more. The free agent defensive end will now be signing with the Denver Broncos.
Barely an hour after the news of his return to the Cowboys was made public, now it appears something went awry in the finalization and the deal is off the table.
And so it’s the #Broncos — not the #Cowboys — that are in agreement with Randy Gregory. My understanding is Dallas insisted on contract language that Gregory did not like protecting themselves. So he heads to Denver.

The Randy Gregory reversal to the #Broncos was 100-percent a matter of the #Cowboys tinkering with contract language at the last moment. Like it or not, you can’t come in with that maneuver when there’s another team on hold, just waiting for an opening.

This leaves the Cowboys in need of a starting edge. They could be looking into re-signing Dorance Armstrong or pursuing other free agency options.
But for whatever reason, Randy Gregory's story will no longer be told in Dallas.
Yeah!
You have to change to improve. Gregory was a limited player .
Move on.
Exactly. Good riddance. Glad he has overcome some things but he’s been on field too little by his own choice. Didn’t want him back for that long for that much.
After all the YEARS OF DRAMA, SUSPENSIONS, ETC. the Cowboys went through with RG. he gives them the middle finger in the end. Well F YOU and good riddance.
All I gotta say is karma dude….you got it coming spades jerk.
Sometimes the Cowboys manage to get saved from themselves. This isn’t the first time the Broncos have swooped in and saved them from doing something stupid.
Boohoo, Randy and his team didn’t like the team putting something in writing to protect themselves. With his track record, I’d be ticked off if they didn’t.
Never understood why Gregory was/is so coveted. What had he actually ever accomplished in his career? How many games has he won for us with a dominant performance? A soon to be 30 year old one trick pony, who has only teased with flashes of what he could be.
Good on the cowboys for taking precautions, considering the huge investment. One of the best deals they never made.
Average player. Flash play here and there with plenty bonehead penalties. Not even a big loss
The kind of language that Gregory was mad about in his contract ought to be mandated in every player contract for every team….plain and simple. It is ridiculous that players expect their money to be bullet proof to their own stupidity. Sports across the board have become the no accountability leagues. Teams in all sports need to wake up to the reality that there is a huge line of people waiting to be paid millions to play games for a living. Stop treating players like they are an irreplaceable commodity.
RG had some bright moments with the Cowboys BUT he also had moments when in crucial situations that he made just plan stupid mistakes such as jumping offsides on 4th and short or defensive holding on 3rd and long or Roughing the passer on 3rd and long plus many more! I kinda hate to see him go but on the other hand to me he seemed like a player that was not mentally prepared to play every game so maybe it’s for the best! Also I guess loyalty is just a thing people use to have for those that helped them when no body else cared!!
Good post Todd, and I could not agree more. These insanely lucrative and long contracts are ludicrous. Glad JJ didn’t cave in again, especially to this “replaceable” player, who was given so many chances.
