When I look at CeeDee Lamb, I don’t see a receiver trying to prove he’s one of the best in football. That conversation is already over because he has already cemented his place as a top-five receiver in the NFL.
What stands out to me right now is where he sits in the Dallas Cowboys record books.
We spend so much time comparing CeeDee Lamb to the top receivers around the NFL that it’s easy to overlook what he’s doing in franchise history. The reality is he’s one big year away from passing several Cowboys legends and putting himself in some pretty exclusive company.
If things go the way they’ve gone the last few years, there’s a good chance he climbs into the top three all-time in receiving yards before the season ends.
Where CeeDee Lamb Stands Today
Lamb enters the season with 571 receptions, 7,416 receiving yards, and 41 touchdown catches.
Those numbers already have him climbing past some of the biggest names to ever wear the star on their helmet.

The thing that jumps off the page for me is Lamb is already in third, and look at all those number 88’s.
He’s already passed two more 88’s in Drew Pearson and Dez Bryant, and he’s still in the middle of his prime.

The bigger story this season is the receiving yards leader board. That’s where Lamb has a chance to make a serious move.

He is within reach of a few milestones on this list.
He needs 44 yards to pass Dez Bryant, 407 yards to pass Drew Pearson, 573 to overtake Tony Hill, and 584 to reach 8,000 career yards.
If CeeDee Lamb stays healthy, he’s probably clearing all four of those marks. We’re not talking about records that need a career year. These are records that could realistically be hit by mid-season.
A Different Kind of Greatness
When Cowboys fans talk about the great receivers, everybody has their favorite.
Some will always choose Michael Irvin because of the championships. Others might point to Drew Pearson for what he meant to the franchise.
A lot of fans from my generation grew up watching Dez Bryant dominate defensive backs and throw up the X after a touchdown.
Lamb’s path has been different.
He isn’t built around one signature moment or one dominant stretch. He’s built his career through consistency. Year after year, game after game, he keeps stacking numbers.
Before you know it, you will look up and realize he’s already one of the most productive receivers in franchise history.
Michael Irvin is the Mountain Top
Moving into third place on the receiving yards list would be a major accomplishment, but when I look at the long game, I keep coming back to one name.
Irvin’s 11,904 receiving yards remains the standard for Cowboys receivers. That number may feel untouchable to some fans. I’m not sure it should.
If Lamb keeps producing at the pace we’ve seen over the last several seasons, that conversation is going to happen.
Not this year, or next year, but sooner than people think.
This Could Be a Season for the Record Books
There are plenty of storylines surrounding the Cowboys entering the 2026 season.
The defense has been revamped. Expectations are high, and the pressure to win remains as strong as ever.
But one storyline worth watching every single week is CeeDee Lamb’s climb through the Cowboys record books.
Forty-four yards from Dez.
Four hundred seven yards from Drew Pearson.
Five hundred seventy-seven yards from Tony Hill.
Those aren’t distant milestones anymore. They are waiting to be conquered this season, and by the time this season is over, CeeDee Lamb may not just be one of the best receivers in the NFL.
He may officially be one of the greatest receivers the Dallas Cowboys have ever had.
