Another exciting and intense year approaches us Cowboys fans as the 2022 season is growing closer each day. However, with a new season on the horizon, a new preseason dawns before the real story begins. Let’s take a look at how the first game against the Denver Broncos could play out.
We can first look at the QB match-up we may have. Although preseason games usually start back-ups, we may see Russell Wilson step out on the field for the first time with an orange uniform on. As for the Cowboys, It’s most likely going to have Dak Prescott start out and then be replaced by Cooper Rush in the driver seat. Who knows, perhaps Rush can pull off another great underdog win as he did against the Vikings in week 8.
With the QB match-up aside, we can now look at our rookies who are sure to get some snaps in this game.
First-round draft pick Tyler Smith (OT) from Tulsa will be sure to be placed on the line and we will see how his blocking skills line up with the rest of his team. Sam Williams (EDGE) from Ole Miss will be present too as he was considered a “late steal” for the Cowboys during the draft.
Lots more rookies will be playing in the game but let us take a look at each team’s defense. While the Broncos always have a powerful defense, Dallas has been very steady on defense themselves. With each team ranked in the top 10 defenses last year, we should most likely see a low-scoring game ahead of us.
As of now, it seems like the Broncos will have to adjust to their new quarterback during this preseason while the Cowboys just need to focus on correct play calling and proper execution during plays. It will be an interesting game to watch due to these key focuses of both teams.
Everyone knows that Dallas had an amazing season last year and change isn’t a very big part of their agenda. If the Cowboys can be determined to repeat last season’s success and then accomplish the post-season properly, Cowboy fans can look forward to another great season.
