Cowboys Beat Commanders 35-10, Win NFC East 1

The Dallas Cowboys found their way against the Washington Commanders Sunday afternoon.

A dominate 38-10 win allowed the Cowboys to capture the NFC East title and the No. 2 overall seed in the NFC.

Odd Start

The first two drives of the game started exactly the way the Cowboys wanted them to.

After stopping the commanders on 4th down, the offense took over with positive field position.

Dak Prescott and the crew marched right down the field and took an early 7-0 lead.

A fumble by Brian Robinson on the next play set the Cowboys up with a chance to take the game over in the first quarte.

Yet it’s the Cowboys we are talking about, that would make things to easy.

After needing to settle for a Brandon Aubrey field goal, Washington blocked it and returned it all the way down to the Cowboys 20-yard line.

A touchdown on 4th and goal tied the game at 7.

The offense moved the ball right over the 50. A tipped pass at the line resulted in an interception.

I thought to myself…. Here we go again.

Washington added a field goal to take a 10-7 lead with 7 minutes left in the second quarter.

Tony Pollard

Tony Pollard made a huge impact on the next offensive possession.

The Cowboys rode him down the field.

He had four carries for 31 yards on the drive and ended it with a 1-yard run. Giving the lead back to Dallas at 14-10.

Tony Pollard plunges in for the touchdown. Cowboys back in front. Pollard caps off a 7-play, 71-yard drive to make it 14-10 Dallas.Tony Pollard with four carries for 31 yards on the drive. He's up to 54 yards on the day – just 11 yards shy of 1,000 for the season.

Donovan Wilson picked off Sam Howell with less than two minutes to go in the first half.

Doing so gave the Cowboys a chance to put the hammer down on Washington.

A beautiful offensive drive at the end of the half was capped off by a Prescott touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb.

The Cowboys took a 21-10 lead into the break.

The Cowboys would get the 2 seed and the NFC East title with a win, yet the Eagles pretty much gave that to Dallas in the first half against the Giants.

Philly pulled their starters after falling behind 24-0 against the Giants.

Second Half

The Cowboys started the second half with the football, and a touchdown would possibly end an hopes of a Washington upset.

The offense opened the second half with a 12-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that ended with Lamb’s second score of the day.

That is how you double up. That touchdown gave the Cowboys a 28-10 lead.

Washington first possession of the second half resulted in a punt after Micah Parsons ended the drive with a sack.

Micah Parsons with the sack. He sets a new career high, as he gets to 14 on the season.

Prescott found Brandin Cooks in the back corner of the endzone to extend the game 35-10.

The rest of the game was all about draining the clock.

For some odd reason Dak stayed in the game when the 4th quarter started, I was not a fan of that.

Outside of the block early in the game, Brandon Aubrey missed his actual first field goal of the season when he hit the left upright late in the 4th quarter.

He got back on track drilling a 50 yarder shortly after to give Dallas the 39-10 lead.

Brandon Aubrey misses the 36-yard FG attempt as it hit the post. The Cowboys are still up 35-10.

Prescott finished the game 31-for-36, 279 yards and four touchdowns.

After a shaky start by the entire team, it would nice to see them not pull a full Cowboys move and blow this game.

Next up are the playoffs! Time to do it when it matters.

DP has certainly upped his game; TP is running hard, and this team looks very good. That said against a bad team that let two of their best players (both DEs) go. They are in rebuild mode and will probably draft a QB next year.
