The Dallas Cowboys have selected North Carolina offensive tackle Asim Richards with the 169th pick in the NFL draft.
After Dallas selected a number of defensive players, with the 169th pick, the Cowboys took Richards that adds much needed depth to the offensive line.
Richards started 38 games at UNC including 34 in a row.
He played mostly tackle, but is a player who can play guard. He has that type of flexibility to play either.
I was hoping for Dallas to take either a running back or wide receiver with their fifth round pick, but as I noted a handful of times this month, they are adding depth. Everywhere.
It is the smart thing to do, Richards was invited to the senior bowl this year and played pretty well.
Hopefully this means we won’t have to see much oh Josh Ball on the field again, no chance he could be much worse.
I will be honest, I didn’t watch UNC much this year, but saw his name float around a few times when looking at possible depth at the position in the later rounds.
From looking around on twitter, it seems the fan base is finally happy with one of the Cowboys picks.
He is 6-4, 309 pounds. Dallas has had good luck drafting offensive linemen, so let’s hope he turns out to be just as good as the others.
