Off their first victory of the season, the Dallas Cowboys (1-1) look to keep on rolling with momentum in Week Three, as they will try to be the first to put a blemish on the New York Giants (2-0) record on Monday night.
The most notable player from both sides that will be out for the game is QB Dak Prescott, but expect both teams to have key players out. On paper, this NFC East matchup may not scream excitement–but don’t be surprised to see a close game between the two–as there are many storylines around this game.
Some of them include:
- The return of Michael Gallup
- Can QB Cooper Rush put together another solid performance?
- New York Giants HC Brian Daboll’s first game in the Giants-Cowboys rivalry
- Rookie OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux’s debut
- Can the Giants contain LB Micah Parsons?
- Will the defense keep RB Saquon Barkley in check, or could we see another Week One performance?
Check out which players are either questionable, doubtful or out from both teams below.
Dallas Cowboys
- DT Quinton Bohanna (neck)— questionable
- WR Michael Gallup (knee)— questionable
- LB Micah Parsons (illness)– questionable
- TE Dalton Schultz (knee) — questionable
- S Jayron Kearse (knee)— out
- G Connor McGovern (ankle)— out
- QB Dak Prescott (thumb) — out
Arguably the one player to keep an eye on as we get closer to tip-off is TE Dalton Schultz. Last week, Schultz suffered a PCL sprain after he landed on his knee, but the team seems optimistic he can play.
Besides Schultz, WR Michael Gallup, who’s questionable, should be making his debut. It will be interesting to see how fast Gallup can slide into the offense, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see some rust for him at the beginning.
New York Giants
- OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee)– questionable
- OLB Azeez Ojulari (calf)– questionable
- DL Leonard Williams (knee)– doubtful
- WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring)– doubtful
- CB Justin Layne (concussion)– out
- CB Nick McCloud (hamstring)– out
- CB Aaron Robinson (appendix)– out
- WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee)– out
The biggest name that the Giants will be without is arguably DL Leonard Williams, who suffered a sprained MCL last Sunday. However, the one player that will play (although he’s questionable) is rookie OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux. The fifth-overall pick from Oregon showed how disruptive he was in college, so it will be interesting to see if he can make some noise in his debut.
