Cowboys’ Lamb is Already Preparing for 2021 Season

CeeDee Lamb was the prize selection of the . After falling to the Cowboys at 17 in the , expectations for him begin to reach new heights after he was named the best receiver in .

Lamb would parlay that into an excellent rookie campaign that saw him set a new franchise record for receptions by a rookie (74) and nearly reach the 1,000-yard plateau (935) although he only played five games with before his season-ending ankle . He also had the most 20+ yard receptions from the slot and his 69 catches and 877 yards from that area were the most by a rookie receiver since 2006 according to .

As his second season in pro's approaches, Lamb was seen recently working out with trainer Delfonte Diamond on multiple aspects of his game.

The below shows Lamb's quick feet and ability to change directions without losing speed at the beginning of his routes. This drill allows Lamb to work on keeping cornerbacks off-balance to where they don't know if he's going to try to beat them on their outside or inside shoulder. Lamb is dangerous with the ball in his hands in the open field and the faster he can get open the more plays he can make.

Being good with your hands at the line of scrimmage is also important for a wide receiver, especially when facing press coverage where cornerbacks tend to be more aggressive. In this drill, Lamb works on using his hands to knock down the outside arm of a corner to attack the sidelines or the inside arm to work the middle of the field. Also, he dips his shoulders in either direction and follows through to create separation off the line of scrimmage.

Mastering these elements of his game will have Lamb making plays for the Cowboys for years to come and keep cornerbacks/defensive coordinators scratching their heads in their efforts to stop him.

I love the kid. Ceedee. I hope that he stays humble.

This is an “outstanding“ example of putting in the work and doing your needed homework in anticipation of the up coming season.

Originally thought CD was a luxury pick, because we needed defense help more. But he has been a great addition. Hope he continues his good play and helping the team going forward.
