Did we all enjoy ourselves as Dallas Cowboys fans watching the Eagles win another Super Bowl, while this team can’t even win more than one playoff game?
How about two weeks before that, watching another division rival, the Commanders play in the NFC Championship game?
All this watching is starting to drip into the star players’ laps and, by the latest comments from Micah Parsons, they are not liking it.
The Cowboys have fallen further behind the Eagles, no matter Dak Prescott’s confidence, and now also are behind the Commanders.
That doesn’t mean they will do anything about it in free agency.
Owner Jerry Jones said last week in New Orleans that the team’s offseason would be “in line” with others, but edge rusher Micah Parsons is calling for the Cowboys to do more.
Micah Said What?
“The talent is there. We’ve just got to be aggressive the same way [other teams] did,” Parsons said, via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
“I don’t want to sit back and watch other [teams] build and build and us stay the same. Definitely some call to action. I want to see us become aggressive and get some players that will come in and make an impact. I want to see us bring back our own players. That’s just as important. Let’s see what we can do there.”
Think about this for a moment. When was the last time that Dallas really made a move in free agency that we thought could actually help?
They signed Brandon Carr is 2012 for 50 million, but outside of trading for Amari Cooper in 2018 after a few weeks of the regular season, what have they done?
Please don’t get me started with the entire thing about how the Dallas Cowboys have no cap space.
The Eagles have eight players with contracts whose total value is $50 million or more, and six of those players’ deals possess average-per-year salaries of at least $20 million.
The Cowboys have just four player contracts with total values above $50 million, and Prescott’s ($60 million average-per-year) and Lamb’s ($34 million average-per-year) deals are the only ones with an average-per-year salary of $20 million or more.
They Won’t Listen
Let’s be honest, regardless of what Micah Parsons says, this front office of the Dallas Cowboys won’t do a dang thing.
Micah is going to say what is on his mind and that is that. Jerry and the rest of the gang will not make any moves outside the draft makes them better.
This team has over 20 pending free agents of their own!
The Cowboys have a brand-new head coach, an entirely new coaching staff under him which is actually not half bad, but without the players, you have no chance.
Of course we would love to see them go get a guy like Tee Higgins to play next to CeeDee Lamb, but that is just not going to happen.
I would start by signing some of the guy back that you need to come back, and then go make a splash, Jerry. You want to get everyone off your back, go make a move, give us fans a reason to have some hope.
Then when the team fails again, it can be the players, and not you! Yet you want it all to happen your way. You want the credit, dude you make the right moves and bring some playmakers in, you will still get the credit!
It is not that hard to understand. All I want is a reason to think this team can win when it matters, and that ship sailed a long time ago.
