The Dallas Cowboys rolled to a 30-10 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday at AT&T Stadium.
It’s the second straight win over a New York team.
Dallas rolled to a 40-0 win over the New York Giants to open the season.
Last week’s victory snapped a three-game losing streak in season-opening games for the Cowboys.
Sunday’s victory ended Dallas’ three-game losing streak to the Jets.
The Cowboys’ last win over the Jets had come in 2007.
The win keeps the Cowboys tied for first in the NFC East with the Eagles and Commanders. The Giants are just one game back at 1-1.
Strong First Half
Dallas took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards on 12 plays.
Dak Prescott hit Jake Ferguson on a four-yard pass for an early 7-0 lead.
The Cowboys extended the lead to 10-0 in the second quarter on a 35-yard field goal by Brandon Aubrey.
The Jets answered with a one-play touchdown drive, a 68-yard pass from Zach Wilson to Garrett Wilson to make it 10-7.
But Dallas answered with a 13-play drive for 75 yards.
Prescott connected with rookie Luke Schoonmaker for a one-yard pass.
It was the first pass target, reception, and touchdown for the second-round pick from Michigan.
Tony Pollard ran in the two-point try for an 18-7 lead.
The Jets moved into field goal range and cut the lead to 18-10 just before the half.
The Cowboys offense threw 26 passes in the half and rushed 18 times. It was the second straight game without a turnover for the offense.
Red Zone Issues
The Cowboys defense clamped down on the Jets in the second half.
Dallas forced a fumble and picked off three Zach Wilson passes in the final 30 minutes.
But the Cowboys’ offense would settle for four Aubrey field goals — including a 55-yarder — despite three drives into the red zone.
A penalty wiped out a Pollard touchdown run and gimmick plays led to negative yardage, putting the Cowboys behind the chains.
By The Numbers
The Dallas defense had shut out their opponents for the first 82:48 of the season before Zach Wilson’s long scoring pass to Garrett Wilson.
The victory pushed the Cowboys to 42-22 all-time in games played in the second week of the season.
It also gave Dallas their ninth-straight home victory.
The last loss at home for the Cowboys was a 25-22 decision to Arizona on Jan. 2, 2022, in the next-to-last game of the 2021 season.
Prescott finished a solid 31-of-38 for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
Prescott added 14 yards on six carries.
Pollard had 72 yards on 25 carries. CeeDee Lamb had 11 catches for 143 yards.
The Cowboys had 44 rushing plays against 38 passes, keeping in line with head coach Mike McCarthy’s desire to run the ball more.
Micah Parsons had two sacks and recovered a Dalvin Cook fumble after stripping the ball out of the Jets running back’s hands.
Osa Odighizuwa also recorded a sack.
Jayron Kearse, Trevon Diggs, and Malik Hooker had interceptions.
Zack Wilson finished 12-of-27 for 170 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. He was also the Jets’ leading rusher with 36 yards on five carries.
Garrett Wilson finished with 83 yards, catching one other pass for a 15-yard gain.
Next Week
The Cowboys will be on the road next week to face the Arizona Cardinals.
Kickoff for the Sunday game is set for 3:25 p.m. (CDT).
The Cowboys are 56-34-1 all-time against the Cardinals.
The first game played between the teams was on Oct. 23, 1960, a 12-10 St. Louis win.
The Cardinals won the first six games played between the two teams between 1960 and 1963. Dallas’ first win came on Dec. 15, 1963, a 28-24 win at St. Louis.
Dallas’ record against the Cardinals since the team moved to Arizona is 24-16.
The Cowboys are 10-10 against the Cardinals on the road.
Dallas was 14-11-1 in games played against the Cardinals in St. Louis and 18-7 at Texas Stadium and the Cotton Bowl.
The Cowboys won the last meeting in Arizona, a 28-17 final on Sept. 25, 2017.
Dallas has lost the last two games against Arizona, both played at AT&T Stadium, in 2020 and 2022.
The Cowboys have lost the last three games against the Cardinals played in Arlington.
The last time Dallas defeated Arizona at home was a 34-13 victory at Texas Stadium on Oct. 30, 2005.
