Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 1,434 yards in 15 games this season. He rested in the Week 17 finale, but that number held strong to make him the league’s leading rusher in 2018.
Of course, there is still a game left tonight between the Colts and Titans. Derrick Henry would need 469 yards to overtake Zeke.
I think we’re good.
Zeke’s closest competition this year wound up being the Giants’ Saquon Barkley, who finished with 1,307 yards. Barkley ran for 109 yards today against the Cowboys to move into second place over Todd Gurley.
The Rams’ Gurley was neck-and-neck with Elliott for most of the year, but has sat out the last few weeks with injuries. He finished the year with 1,251 yards.
For Zeke, this was his second-best rushing season. His rookie total of 1,631 yards remains his career high.
That said, Elliott’s total production in 2018 was his highest yet. In addition to the rushing, he had 567 receiving yards on 77 catches.
While our attention is already turning to the postseason, it’s still nice to congratulate Ezekiel Elliott on his second career rushing title!
