Have Cowboys proved they aren’t “Pretenders” for playoffs?

Have Cowboys proved they aren't "Pretenders" for playoffs?

While the excitement of last Saturday’s game still lingers around Dallas Cowboys fans, the entire NFL fanbase has its own decision to make. That decision is if the Cowboys are real contenders now after their win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

For most of the 2022 season (and usually every season) the Dallas Cowboys can be mocked by football fans for being an overrated team. They get called Pretenders, Cowgirls, and straight-up rotten names to make the team sound weak. This year, people have concluded that the Cowboys will have another early playoff exit. However, with last week’s game, have fans been convinced otherwise?

I think many fans are starting to see the real strength of the Cowboys. While the team has its weak moments, they usually play with a lot of confidence and skill. This last game against the Eagles was one of the best performances I have seen from this Cowboy team in a long time.

The Cowboys are known for putting up high points on weaker teams, but after putting 40 points on the board against the best team in the NFL, that shows that something special is there. Right now, the Eagles are the 2nd favored team to win the Superbowl, right behind the Buffalo Bills.

Another strong point I see is with Quarterback Dak Prescott. After completely failing on his third pass of the game and throwing a pick-six, he came back on the field and played at his peak performance level.

I also can’t forget about how Wide Receiver CeeDee lamb was, 10 catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns is very impressive. Ezekiel Elliott also had a good game with 55 yards and one touchdown.

Now I understand that this is only one game, but man if the Cowboys could just hold onto this spark for the playoffs, they may make a huge run. In all honesty, the entire team put together this win. While I’m starting to have doubts about the defense, the offense has really held this team up the past few weeks.

To finish up the real question about calling the Cowboys “Pretenders”, I feel like the reason fans think that is because of the recent history of the Cowboys in the playoffs. When you only have three playoff wins since 2000 and you’ve gone eight times, that’s definitely a stat that can make heads turn.

The Cowboys seem yet again to be a true contender, but until they can get past this curse, the Cowboys will be seen as a team that always chokes in the playoffs. I am hyped about this post-season and I feel like if the boys can win the next two games we can enter the playoffs with a three-game win streak and have great confidence in ourselves.

While many people are still mocking the team, we fans must stick together and stay strong, for we know who the Cowboys really are. We are Cowboy nation! Go, Cowboys!

Getting a win is great, but I have to respectfully disagree with the “best performance” accolade, Tony. I do agree however, it would be great, as you say, if they can be “streaking” into the PS.

But let’s put this win in some perspective.

Philly was playing without their best and most important player, their QB1. Philly turned over the ball FOUR times. And still Philly was driving deep in Cowboys territory to potential win the game at game end. Think about that, turning the ball over four times and still was in position to win with their second string QB.

As a long time Cowboy fan, I’ve seen this balloon burst too many times in the past over quarter century to get my hopes up too high. I’m not sold on inconsistent DP to NOT screw up somewhere along the line. What is happening with these pick six INTs. And our defense just gave up 34 points to a QB2.

Simple answer is no. As long as Prescott is there Dallas will not advance through the playoffs. They’ll definitely never go to the Super Bowl.

I think there are some “as long as” legit commentary to be made concerning the Cowboys. I DON’T THINK IT’S A DAK PRESCOTT issue. I think it’s AS LONG AS MCCARTHY AND MOORE are in Dallas they’ll definitely never go to the Super Bowl.

Hey Homer, the Cowboys have proved NOTHING as they have not won a playoff game yet!
