If you haven’t noticed by now, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens is very good at football.
He is in a contact year, so his play is probably a bit better than normal, or maybe it just because he actually has a quarterback that can get him the ball consistently.
Nonetheless, Jerry Jones, is once again going to cost this team in the long run. Ideally, this team should sign Pickens like today or tomorrow, but you know that is not going to happen, and Jones after Sunday’s win made sure to let everyone know who is in charge.
What Jerry Said
“Don’t pay any attention to that,” Jones said about the Pickens-Mulugheta situation, per Joseph Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News. “At all. No attention to that at all. Too much was made of that, that the agent actually had something to do with the ultimate decision of where we were. It almost had zero to do with it. Period. And that’s not a negative. It just didn’t have that kind of influence. I was going to be where I was with Micah relative to dollars and cents. I don’t care who represented him.”
The same agent that Micah has, Pickens also has, so what do we think is going to happen here?
The best thing to happen to this offense is adding George Pickens, and it really is not even up for debate.
If this team did not have him while CeeDee Lamb was out those three games, they would not have had a chance in any of them, and honestly they are sitting at 3-3-1 because of him and the rest of the offense.
Pickens has completely proved everyone wrong who said he would not work in Dallas because the Steelers gave up on him because of his off the field issues in the locker room, etc.
He has been nothing short of great, and him and CeeDee and Dak have a great bond.

Pickens leads the Cowboys with 607 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions (tied with tight end Jake Ferguson) for the season.
That said, No. 1 Dallas receiver CeeDee Lamb missed three games with a high ankle sprain before he torched the Commanders for 110 yards and a score on five catches.
The point is, Jerry is going to wait around and see how this year finishes, and if he does not end up signing him, it is going to be so frustrating.
This offseason is the best in football, and if you let him walk and think you can get this type of production next season without him paired with Lamb, it will be so funny to watch you get backlash just like he did with the Micah Parsons trade.
Use those first round picks for defense, and make sure this offense is good to go with these guys for the next two years!
So how does any of that equate to Jerry Costing the team players? None of that tracks. You either have the cap to sign Pickens or you don’t. You either think he’s worth the money or you don’t. Maybe not my business but posting inflammatory stuff is only going to create divide on your board. You will always have half on the “Pay the Man” train and the other half on the “Manage Your Cap” train. Maybe that happens anyway but why on Earth would you encourage that?
I kinda don’t get that.
I’m usually on the “manage the cap train”, BUT Pickens has been really DAMN GOOD, so far. If they can find the money (not break the bank) AND his agent is not an impediment, I would say sign this guy. I guess the other option is draft a WR with one of their first rounders.
I’m kinda with you on that. I mean, I think they should try and sign him but I just have very little faith that his agent will agree to sign a deal early and for a price that doesn’t set the market. Listen, if we could get a deal done for say, 35 per season for maybe 3 years, I’d seriously try and do that. But I’m afraid it will be more like 45 and you can’t spend 30% of the cap on two WRs. Even if you love them both, you just can’t do that really. It would mean we would likely have to do something with Dak and that’s already expensive, which would just make it even worse down the line. Would also cause problems with CD because you can’t give Pickens 10 mil more a season then you do CD. We would have to renegotiate his deal as well. Just creates a lot of problems. IDK, I think Picken’s agent is Trevon Smith so maybe he negotiates different then Mulughetta but they both work for Athletes First. Maybe fans remember Todd Frances, Tony Romo’s agent while he was a Cowboy. Remember how bad those contracts left us? All the same Agency.
I guess we’ll see what happens but I would definitely think about something in the area of 35 per, if Pickens would go for that.
Pickens agent is the same as Micah Parsons, it’s said right in this article!! And Pickens won’t get more than Lamb gets in a contract either!! Everybody sees how it plays out when both are on the field together…. Lamb gets the most targets, and Pickens is the number 2!! So Pickens won’t set the market on his new contract he’s gonna get more in the range of a Tee Higgins contract!! I think Pickens is a little better than Higgins, so he mite get a little more, but it’ll be in that range!! He’s definitely not gonna get more than Lamb, Chase or Jefferson!!
I know it says that they are the same. That article says a lot of things that are less then accurate IMO but whatever. I think it’s Trevon Smith. Same thing happened with Aubrey the kicker. Was reported that Mulughetta was his agent and he is represented by Todd France, who also works for Athlete First. Apparently anybody who is represented by an Athlete’s first agent is reported to be rep’ed by Mulughetta. As far as how much he gets, he may get more then CD but it can’t be by much. It has to be within that range of 35 to 36 or so. But as I said earlier, I have no faith that his representation will go along with that. They are going to want to set the market I’m guess. We shall see.
I think Jerry will try everything he can to extend Pickens, but it’ll probably have to be after the season is over since Pickens said he don’t want any contract talks to distract him this season and he wants to show what he can do before he gets into contract talks so he wants to wait until the season is over before he gets into any contract talks!! So I think Jerry will do everything he can to make sure Pickens stays in Dallas, but it’ll be when the season is over!!
a Dallas Cowboys fan, since the 70’s I want to see if Jerry Jones is really going to pay George Pickens and how much
I’m not quite sure what your expecting!? It was said from the minute Pickens came over with us that he didn’t wanna sign a contract yet!! He said he wanted to play out the season and show what he can do before he works on a contract, and Jerry said he thinks the way!! So it doesn’t matter if Jerry wanted to start working on a contract extension yesterday, nothing would happen with it because Pickens wants to wait until the end of the season!! He actually just said it again a week or 2 ago!! He was asked if he would wanna stay in Dallas, and he said he wouldn’t mind it, and then he was asked what’s more important to him, the money or winning, and he said probably winning…. He said he has won everywhere he’s ever been, so that’s what he cares about most!! And then he was asked if a contract extension has been offered to him yet and he said no, but he’s not worried about a contract extension right now because he would rather show what he can do for a whole season and then talk about the extention when the season is over!! And he said something about he don’t want the extention talks to interfere with his mindset while he’s playing!! So you can’t put this on Jerry, it don’t matter if he offered an extension or not, Pickens isn’t ready to talk about it yet!! But when the time comes, I don’t think Jerry is gonna let him leave!! Dak is behind keeping Pickens, he even said he’s gonna talk to Jerry about extending Pickens too, and Jerry said he made the Parsons trade with the idea of having more cap space to sign other players, like Pickens and Williams and whoever else he wants to sign!! So stop trying to blame Jerry for everything, he’s gonna sign every player he can, especially the ones he really wants on our team!! And I don’t think he would let a talent like Pickens walk out the door!! We can throw the franchise tag on him if we have to, but I don’t think Jerry is gonna let him go!!
i guess to make a long story short , your guessing jerry will not sign pickens in season and he is guessing he can sign him after the season , either way your both guessing
a Dallas Cowboys fan, since the 70’s I hope George Pickens gets his money but how much
