Jones & Co. leaves Cowboys behind at trade deadline

Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones

The NFL trade deadline hit yesterday afternoon, and as you should know by now, only one NFC contender did not make a move to strengthen their football team.

The Dallas Cowboys.

The 49ers, Seahawks, Lions, and Eagles all made moves yesterday or a few days before the deadline on Tuesday.

Jerry Jones, of course, got on the radio Tuesday morning and talked about how he loves the guys on the team and where they are, and it would be a long shot for them to make a move.

Jerry…. All the other teams love their guys also, but they made them better, and you didn’t

Nobody can sit here and tell me this team could not have used depth at running back, wide receiver, linebacker, and in the secondary.

I’m not trying to say they needed to trade for the biggest name on the market, but a solid depth piece wouldn’t have hurt.

I love what the Lions did. They traded for wideout Donovan Peoples-Jones.

He had 839 yards last year. He helps them.

2023 outlook

With all that said, here we go.

If the Cowboys walk into Philly this week and get absolutely hammered or struggling to hand with the Eagles, I want every single reporter to ask Jerry Jones WHY he didn’t make a move Tuesday.

I hope Dallas wins, but if this happens, he will downplay it like it is not a big deal.

You will have to go through either the Eagles or the 49ers if they don’t get the top seed to win the NFC.

He sat back and watched every single top 5 team make a move. Regardless of whether it was big or small.

They made a move, period!

I understand he traded for Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore in March.

I fully get it. I am not saying he didn’t address the needs then. He filled the holes, but we have seen it year after year.

Outside of the Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes, every team that either makes the Super Bowl or wins it makes moves at or near the deadline!

I can’t grasp why they feel like they did not need to add something somewhere.

I like the makeup of this team also, but even with the moves they made in March, there were plenty of names on bad teams you could have traded for.

This Sunday is going to tell us a lot about this football team.

Either they prove a heck of a lot of people wrong, or they will leave us scratching our heads as to why Jerry Jones didn’t pick up the phone and try and add another player to either the offense or defense.

I wouldn’t be as upset if all the contenders didn’t make their teams better. The Cowboys are good, but so is every other top team in the NFC.

I am about 70% bought into this team, but after not making a move, I dropped a bit.

You want me at 100? Go into Philly and win this game. Prove the team was just fine without making a move at the deadline.

All eyes are on you now, Jones & Co.

They didn’t make a trade because they have nothing left to trade. They’ve already traded their 4th, 5th, and 6th round picks for Lance, Cooks, and Gilmore. Their cupboard is pretty bare. I guess they could’ve tried to trade a player for a player, but they already did that too with Joseph. They’ll hopefully get some compensatory picks to use in the draft, or it’s gonna pretty slim pickings next year.

Dumb article.
The Cowboys made 3 trades before the season even started and used their 4th, 5th and 6th round picks.
Those trades allowed the Cowboys to use Cooks and Gilmore for 7 games already.

Ahhhh, another comment from someone who doesn’t understand football. First of all, as you can read I mentioned the trades they made this offseason. Second: They’ll get 2 comp picks back probably a 4th and 5th for this upcoming draft with McGovern and Schultz so they have those to work with. They also have 1 each in Rounds 1-3 and 2 in the 7th & not to mention they could have moved something in 25 IF they wanted to.

But yeah, sure, dumb post. Maybe next time.

No, it was dumb this time.

For one, it takes TWO teams to agree to a trade.

For another, you didn’t name a single player you wanted to trade for. You just wanted a trade for the sake of a trade.

Third, you equated a trade for a depth piece (your words) with this weeks game results. Saying that if they get beat this week, its because they didn’t trade for a guy you hope doesn’t even see the field.

Again…. Because I already made a post a week and half ago of who I would have liked the Cowboys to go after, if folks actually read more than one post, they would know that. Secondly, Jerry made no attempt to trade for anyone, he made it very clear on the radio like always. If they get hammered this week, I said I want everyone reporter to ask why he sat back and let every other contender get better while he sat back and did nothing. If this was three weeks ago and the trade deadline was after the 49ers game, he would have made a move, but since they beat up on another below average team, he thinks they are great. Everyone in the NFC got better that has a chance at the title expect for Dallas.

Gregory Barnes Well….there’s reason to be upset but there’s no use. Jerrah’ will never change….even though some of us are still praying. 28 years is such a long time to not win a championship.

Marco Mendoza you are speaking, the truth, brother, speaking the truth. If you look at the players that have come through the 28 year drought, it’s sad that we have a goose egg to show for it .

Jerry overpays underperforming players exorbitant sounds of money and he’s tied to him. Nobody else wants him. That’s his problem you don’t know when to let go.

the Cowboys have already proven they can win successfully with what they have. for instance. Dallas has built a machine. but the new schematics needed tweaking. so now in week 8 the machines running on all cylinders and produced an awesome product called a big W for the win column which puts us another step closer to where we need to be. it’s going to be interesting to say the least and a great test for the Defense. GO COWBOYS!!!!

PSA

Jerry Jones is an business man that happens to be NFL owner. He put a product on the field that just good enough to win. And that’s all he is going to do. As long as y’all keep filling that stadium up and buying cowboy gear that’s all he’s going to keep doing. I’m a Cowboy fan. I stop going to games and buying gear when he fired Jimmy. Until that stadium stop being full and gear revenue drop, he’ll continue the same. The Cowboys are the most valued and recognized sport team in the world. Jerry is a Business Man!

Bobby Lloyd I concur, that’s why as a businessman he will never let anybody have any control to put together a winning team . His ego will not let that happen. Therefore, he reaps the rewards off the merchandise and is the same status quo since JIMMIE left. … kind of smart to be a dumb ass. Ha

Don’t know why it’s titled Jones and Jones. Stephen Jones was behind the Amari deal even though Jerry takes credit. It’s clear it’s Jerry who doesn’t want to pull the trigger. Jerry has been burned at the trade deadline so many times by some idiotic trades that now he’s just scared to make any move. I can’t wait till Stephen is fully in charge.
