Last year, the Cowboys’ selection of cornerback Chidobe Awuzie shook the football world before we’d even see him play a snap. This had nothing to do with Awuzie, though, and everything to do with Drew Pearson.
Taking in the boos from Philadelphia Eagles fans — which were hosting the draft, former Cowboys receiving great Drew Pearson announced the Cowboys’ second-round selection with defiance. It was entertaining, hilarious, and exactly what the NFL Draft should be.
Now, for the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cowboys have announced Pearson will return as the team’s community ambassador. Former Cowboys Edge Rusher DeMarcus Ware will join Pearson as well.
Ware and Pearson will lead the Cowboys’ community outreach efforts during the NFL Draft, including a project with the Arlington Independent School District’s six high schools (according to SportsDay/Dallas News). Ware and Pearson will help athletes at these high schools complete community projects throughout the spring.
DeMarcus Ware and Drew Pearson should be announcing the Cowboys’ day-two selections during the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys are hosting the NFL Draft at AT&T Stadium this year, so both Ware and Pearson should be met by a much more welcoming fan base this time around.
