Playmakers shine — Lamb will lead NFL in receiving yards in 2023

Tuesday afternoon in the middle of June, no better time to throw out a few predictions on how I think a handful of the Dallas Cowboys playmakers could fair this season.

Last season I made this same type of piece, and my predictions were decent but not great.

I was very close with CeeDee Lamb; I said he would finish with 1,350 yards and 12 touchdowns.

I was nine yards and three touchdowns short of nailing his 2022 stats. You can find last year’s post by clicking here.

So I thought, let’s try this again.

So after you look at these, let me know what you think and give me your final stat lines for some of these players; again, it is all predictions right now.

CeeDee Lamb

Welp, this year Lamb now has Brandin Cooks lining up on the other side of him, not Noah Brown.

That is going to be a lovely site to see.

Lamb put up 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns last season with no other threat on the other side of the field.

He gained all the attention of the defense. Now, you line Cooks up on the other side, who could be a No. 1 wide receiver for a handful of teams.

Cooks does nothing but produce 1,000 yards, no matter where he is.

With that said Lamb could have even more yards in 2023 because less attention will be on him with Cooks on the other side.

Drew Brees says Cowboys will love Brandin Cooks

I won’t lie to you. I think Lamb has a real chance to lead the NFL in receiving yards in 2023.

Lamb finishes with 1,762 yards and 13 touchdowns. Will that be enough to win the yards title? We will find out.

Dak Prescott

Okay, folks, here we go, the man fans either love or hate. Say what you want about him. He had ONE bad year; get over it.

He just broke the single-season touchdown record the year before.

He is back to 100%, and with adding Cooks to the mix and Michael Gallup is back? Yeah, he will be fine this year.

The funny thing is, all anyone wanted to look at was his interceptions. Even with Noah Brown and Dennis Houston as his second and third options, the offense still nearly lead the NFL in yards, points, etc.

With Lamb, Cooks, Gallup, and others around him, Prescott will have a fringe top-10 year.

Dak finishes 2023 with 4,405 yards and 34 touchdowns.

Tony Pollard

Here is the tricky one, Pollard is recovering from a broken leg; although he says he feels fast, etc., it will take some time before he gets his burst back.

It is a mind-over-matter type of deal. We saw it in Gallup last year when he returned from his ACL tear. It takes time to trust making all the football moves on that part of the body.

Pollard had over 1,000 yards last season with Ezekial Elliott still in the lineup.

The Cowboys’ backup running backs are Deuce Vaughn, Ronald Jones, Malik Davis, and Rico Dowdle.

The team might play the hot hand each week behind Pollard.

This one is tough to gauge, but if Pollard finishes with 1,272 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns. That is a beautiful year off an injury like his.

Micah Parsons

I couldn’t make this without talking about the best player on the team. Micah Parsons is always ready to go.

He said recently that he is gearing up for a “year to remember” I believe him.

“I’m telling you, I’m going to do it all,” Parsons said. “It’s going to be a year to remember for sure.”

Parsons is currently the favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year.

I will let Parsons talk on the field; we already know how great he is.

My final prediction is 17.5 sacks and 72 total tackles (40 solo).

This team has talent all over the field.

The most that have been around Prescott on offense since he has been here, and the most Dan Quinn has got to coach since he took over as defensive coordinator.

I didn’t even dive into what Trevon Diggs and Stephon Gilmore will do this season.

Finally feels like a complete team on both sides of the ball.
