The Cowboys seek revenge for 2024 loss to the Detroit Lions on TNF

Week 13 is here, and the Dallas Cowboys are in a spot that nobody thought they would play themselves into before the bye week.

With the two biggest wins of the year against the Eagles and the Chiefs, the Cowboys now travel to Detroit to take on another team that they need to beat to keep the playoff hopes alive and well.

Not only did anyone think they would beat the last two teams, some people are still wondering when the old Cowboys are going to show back up.

Dallas has been playing with the season on the line the last two weeks, but the playoffs start tomorrow for both the Lions and the Cowboys.

The loser of this game can close the book on this season.

Trifecta Time?

If the Cowboys win this game against the Lions and somehow end up 3-0 against them, the Eagles and the Chiefs in three straight weeks, nobody will want to see them if they get into the playoffs.

We keep saying playoffs, and honestly they might have dug themselves too big of a hole before the bye week to sneak in, but if they win this game, the Eagles’ room for error becomes nearly nothing.

Dallas is 8-1 in their last nine Thursday games dating back to 2021, and the Lions, like the Cowboys, are playing for their playoff lives.

If Dallas does lose this game and drop to 6-6-1, it then becomes a win-out situation, with how good the NFC has been this year, you probably aren’t even making it in with 11 wins, let alone 10.

The Lions beat them in Dallas 47-9 a year ago early in the season, and if they still don’t have that taste in their mouth, they better get it.

I understand Dallas plays way better at home, in which the last two games they won were, but this Lions team is reeling and will probably be without Amon St. Brown. You have to win this game and keep the heat on.

Trevon Diggs’ status vs. Lions, per Schotty, as the All-Pro corner tries to return from #Cowboys injured reserve:

“he wants to play and he’s trying to play, and we’ll see how today goes and then make the decision.”

I did not think Dallas had any chance to come into this game with a chance at the playoffs and here we are, they are playing as well as anyone in football, and need to stay hot.

The energy just feels different and the last two games are ones where they get boat raced, didn’t fold in either and beat the two teams in the Super Bowl a year ago back-to-back.

The Cowboys stay hot, win this game 33-29.

The Cowboys season won’t be over if they lose this game!! They’ll still be able to get into the playoffs even if they lose this game!! Yeah, it will be hard getting into the wild card round, with 10 wins and maybe even 11, but we don’t have to be one of the wild card teams!! We can be one of the division winners!! All we have to do is tie the eagles by the end of the season and we’ll win our division, which means we’ll have one of the top 4 seeds in the playoffs!! It’ll actually be easier to do that than it would be to catch one of the last 3 seeds in the wild card spots!! If we lose one game, we’ll need the eagles to lose 3 games, and with the way they’ve been playing lately, and with the schedule they have left, it’s not hard to see them losing 3 of the last 5 games!! So we can lose one game and still have a chance to get into the playoffs!! I would rather us win out, but I’m just saying this to point out that our season isn’t over if we lose to Detroit!!

Hate to relay the bad news, but tomorrow ‘s game against Detroit will see them bow out of any chance in getting a playoff spot. Injuries to Hooker and Clowney will hurt the defense. Pickens is not at 100% Lions aren’t at full power either with significant injuries on their offensive line and at wide receiver. But they are at home and that’s their advantage. Lions 23 to 17.
