All sports fans know how important it is for a team to have a good drafting class. Take the Dallas Cowboys for example. This is a team that’s loaded with talent but missing key players at positions that could help them win the big games.
The 2023 NFL Draft is vital to the Cowboys’ success in 2024, for the above-stated reason. If the Cowboys staff can’t land good talent for the team this spring, the team will again fall to itself.
Many players are on the market for this draft from all over the country.
Great defensive and offensive players, but only a selected few will have the honor of wearing a star on their helmets.
For the wide receivers out there, now is their chance because the Cowboys desperately need one.
Much of the fanbase is confident that the Cowboys will select a wide receiver with their first pick, which seems likely.
If the Cowboys’ brain trust is looking toward wide receiver in the first round, then it’s safe to say that Jalin Hyatt from the University of Tennessee would be a great player to add to their roaster.
While having Hyatt would surely help the team, many sports fans project him to be out in the early first round, so acquiring him would require extreme luck.
What other positions are important for the Cowboys?
Normally I would say that the offensive line needs some fixing, but this year the Cowboys should have the best line they’ve had in a while.
The Cowboys should instead focus on finding a top cornerback.
While the Cowboys have good cornerbacks in Trevon Diggs and their newest player Stephon Gilmore, it never hurts to have more players who can stop a good quarterback on the field.
There are so many cornerbacks out there in the college football world to draft, but the best option would be one from the University of Georgia.
Many football fans know that Georgia has the best defenders out there and the cornerbacks did a very good job last season at their position, so landing one of them would be a great addition.
Come time for the draft the Cowboys must make good decisions on who to grab. Wide receiver and cornerback are the positions that should be carefully looked at during this draft.
Let us hope the staff understands how valuable it is to fill in these positions with good players that will help the Cowboys next season.
The Cowboys are so close to achieving greatness as shown over the past two years.
With back-to-back 12-5 seasons and very hopeful performances throughout the year, it seems during all their playoff losses the Cowboys were just missing one special weapon or player to get the job done.
This problem can stop if the Cowboys staff can take this draft seriously and get the job done.
Next season the Cowboys will be stacked with talent once again, but this time they must get the best possible draft selection they can get so the hope of an NFC Championship appearance is likely.
They don’t desperately need a WR or a CB.
You missed the boat completely. Getting a shiny new toy is what Jerry Jones would do to make a splash. We have one of the best trio of WRs in the league so there is no desperate need, maybe a want, but not a need. The cowboys are also set in the secondary. This off season is a make it or break it time for Lewis, Wright and Joseph in which only 2 will be able to make the team and both of them would be backups to Gillmore, Diggs, and Bland.
You then stated the the Oline is in the best shape in years, which is false. They are without a LG and also do not have a backup guard nor backup center. The backup G/C last year was supposed to be Conner Mcgovern and the LG was Tyler Smith. With Conner in Buffalo and Tyler moved to LT, there is a chance that Steele moves to LG or may be the swing tackle. This means you have two holes or take a chance with Chuma who has only be a backup that started when their starters went down. They need two interior linemen this year with one that can also play C or you may be playing a UDFA rookie if Tyler goes down. We have seen what bad offensive line play has done to teams like TB, LARams, and CIN last year, why would you want to set the Cowboys up for failure now?
This kid needs a good editor.
The Cowboys are in desperate need of a WR? Really? And a CB, but not an IOL (LG/C) as you say, no mention of LB, developmental QB, nor a DT-1 tech?
He’s 19…
Hello Tony! First of all and most importantly IGNORE THE CONSTANT CRITICISM by those commenting on your articles. Now, that said, I would love to see the Cowboys draft Robinson or Gibbs in the 1st Round. Realistically I think they’ll both be off the board by pick 26. As much as we need a Defensive Tackle, an Offensive Tackle, and a Guard
I’d be absolutely ecstatic if the Cowboys could or would draft Jack Campbell from Iowa. This kid is a Jack Ham clone. You’re probably a little young to remember the old Pittsburgh Steelers “Steel Curtain ” defense. That’s the defense Jack Ham played on. He was the main nan on that defense in my opinion. He was smart, instinctive, athletic, and loved football. Jack Campbell seems to check all of those boxes. Drafting a really good Linebacker to run with Micah Parsons for the next 8 to 10 years would be incredible. We could FINALLY bid farewell to Vander Esch. And now for a Reality Check! This is the Organization that drafted Kelvin Joseph in the 2nd Round for some UNKNOWN REASON! We have to expect bumbling Stephen and Jerry Jones to get this wrong!!!!!
