The Dallas Cowboys got a win last week against the Steelers on the road short-handed, and now the injury report looks worse than it did last week, and I didn’t think that was possible.
After that game against the New York Giants, this team lost a number of starters.
This week back at home before the bye week is going to be much of the same, expect this Sunday they will be down another important starter against one of the best offenses in all of football.
Dallas Cowboys
No Designation:
- S Markquese Bell (Illness)
- CB Trevon Diggs (Ankle/Illness)
- OT Tyler Guyton (Knee)
- S Malik Hooker (Neck)
- Marist Liufau (Quad)
- G Zack Martin (NIR-Rest)
These are the guys that will suit against the Lions on Sunday afternoon.
You would like to see guys like Diggs, and Guyton off the report completely, but this team is getting hammered by the bug early, that is why last week’s win was so big.
Questionable:
- CB DaRon Bland (Foot)
- CB Caelen Carson (Shoulder)
- LB Nick Vigil (Foot)
A name here that many probably did not expect to see is DaRon Bland, and if he were to play that would probably be a huge help with what we are about to see next. The Cowboys are going to be without another starter at LB in Eric Kendricks.
The Cowboys did not have Carson last week either, so if they can get Bland back with Carson on the outside, it would help Dallas stack the box a bit and try and do everything they can to stop the great running attack the Lions have.
If Bland does play, expect him to be on a snap count, and again, if I had to guess right now, I would say he would not play.
Out:
- WR Brandin Cooks (Knee)
- LB Micah Parsons (Ankle)
- LB Eric Kendricks (Shoulder/Calf)
- DeMarcus Lawerence (Foot)
So here we go, if this week was not going to be hard enough, now Dallas is without Kendrick’s, the green dot, who calls the plays for this defense.
The Dallas Cowboys offense is going to have to just flat out score the Lions if they want a chance to win the game.
That is why the win last week on the road against Pitt was so big. This team needs the bye week next week, so dang bag.
Detroit Lions
The Lions coming off a bye week are fully healthy and this could get ugly for the Cowboys in a hurry on Sunday.
No Designation:
- DB Brain Branch (Illness)
- S Kerby Joseph (Hamsring)
- C Frank Ragnow (Pectoral)
The Lions only have three players who have no designation, meaning that all three guys are in line to play. I don’t see any reason why they would miss this game.
Out:
- G Christian Mahograhy (Ilness)
The Lions starting guard is the only player who is going to miss this game against Dallas. If the Cowboys can find a way to win this football game, I don’t want to hear another excuse from anyone on here or in the media on Monday.
Everyone picked against them against the Steelers, they won short-handed, with all the turnovers, and everyone tried to make an excuse.
The Cowboys will probably need more from their offense to prevail Sunday while playing on the fast surface at home against an opponent that reached the NFC Championship Game last season.
If the Cowboys win this game, I would argue that it is the biggest win of Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy’s careers. They have a practice squad roster out there against one of the favorites to win the NFC this season.
You want respect. Here is your chance, Dallas.
