After five long weeks, Dallas Cowboys fans will finally get their main quarterback back. After suffering a thumb injury, Dak Prescott is excited to start playing again. The question is, will Dak bust or boom on his first day back on the job?
The last game Dak started was week one against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We all know how bad that game was for the Cowboys’ offense. Not one trip to the red zone was taken by Dallas and they only scored a field goal. The defense played solid, only letting up 19 points against Tom Brady’s offense. So, why did Dak play so poorly in this game? It seems he just had a down game, plus a lot of these receivers he was playing with were new and inexperienced.
Now, these excuses don’t cover up how bad he played in that first game, but it makes a little more sense.
This time, Dak has Michael Gallup as another weapon he can throw to. I also believe that Kellen Moore has developed more. One of my theories was that Kellen had better chemistry with Cooper Rush than he does with Prescott. Kellen’s plays just seemed to work better with Rush than with Dak.
Now that Kellen has had his fun, he should be much more focused on making better calls for Dak and his offense. Another key factor to why Dak should boom against the Lions this week.
One point we’ve looked past is that… this is the Detroit Lions we are talking about. I mean, Dak should have no struggle against this overhyped team. The Lions have the worst defense in the NFL and are easy to get past.
Honestly, signs point to Dak having the game of his life this Sunday. Nothing seems to be in the way of him having an amazing game. While my Cowboys vs Lions bold game predictions share how the score should be around 34 points, nothing is stopping Dak from scoring above 40 points this game.
I know that seems a bit much for a QB that’s just coming off of an injury, but there’s one subject that we forgot about. While Dak was gone, what happened? That’s right, a new quarterback stole the hearts of some Cowboys fans. Cooper Rush managed to do so well that he started a controversy at the quarterback position.
While many fans know that Dak Prescott can’t lose his starting spot, some fans want to see Rush take over the team. All this talk really must make Dak Prescott nervous. This kind of pressure could help Dak turn a new leaf and play even better than before. Overall, if the Cowboys have scared Dak a little bit about a replacement, then we could and should see him go off crazy against the Lions and all the other upcoming games. I suspect Dak to be the best quarterback this week and should rack up more than 300 yards.
Was this helpful?
The success offensively was due to Moore sticking to the run which he has refused to do in the past. The “theory” that Moore has better chemistry with Rush? I hope not, because they were near the bottom of the league in passing.
I won’t be the least bit surprised if Dak starts off very slowly. He’s going to have to rebuild chemistry with his receivers and confidence in himself. Not normally a fast starter in the best of circumstances, it’s not unreasonable to expect him to struggle with timing and accuracy even more than usual. It’ll all come down to the D shutting the Lions down long enough for Dak to knock the rust off and how well his receivers and running game can
bailhelp him out. Luckily for him, the D is great, the running game is good, and Gallup and Brown are very good at reeling in less-than-accurate throws.Well hindsight is 20-20 but in retrospect, Dak, in this game looked like a bad version of Cooper Rush. But then again Cooper mostly faced really good defenses while luckily, Dak got to face the leagues worst defense. I’m glad “all of the signs were pointing toward Dak having the game of his life”?
However Dak was successful in making a very weak team look strong, and he managed to keep a game close and suspenseful when it should have been a blowout.
