With the Dallas-Tampa Bay matchup on Thursday, Cowboys fans may be looking around, wondering what to do on this football Sunday.
Yes, America’s Team currently doesn’t look like much of a contender, but when you look around the NFC East and at the schedule ahead for the Cowboys, they’ve still got a shot if they can figure this thing out soon.
Here, I’ll go over some of the things to watch for Dallas in Week 5.
1. The NFC East’s Matchups on Sunday
(Eagles vs. Jaguars in London & Giants @ Commanders)
Division-wise, the Eagles have already kicked off as major underdogs in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars. They are struggling mightily with injuries, most notably to Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith, but they are playing hard against the Jags right now.
If Jacksonville pulls it out, however, the Eagles would fall to 2-3, which would definitely give a boost of hope to those Cowboys fans looking for it.
We also have the Commanders and Giants facing off in an intra-division matchup; Washington is the favorite in this one, though a slight one at -3.5 points. They come into this game with Jayden Daniels back at 1-3, while New York, without Jaxson Dart, leads the division at 3-1.
I’m expecting a bit of a come-back-to-earth moment for the Giants, as it is just flat-out difficult to be a 4-1 team with a backup quarterback, but it should be an interesting game.
For Dallas, of course, you’ll want Jacksonville to win, and I think you’re also rooting for the Commanders over the Giants today.
2. Watch for Next Week’s Opponent: the Green Bay Packers
(Packers vs. Bears, +1.5-point Underdogs)
Part of the sting of that Buccaneers loss is the fact that Dallas now has to go up north to Green Bay, where little ever goes the Cowboys’ way, in Week 6.
As a result, you might want to check in on the Packers with their matchup against the Bears today. It’ll be an emotional game, with the recent passing of Chicago legend Mike Ditka, but because of the injury to Caleb Williams, this is expected to be close.
The Packers have looked pretty bad this year, as they come into this game 2-2 with a near-loss to those pesky Bucs last week. If you see another bad showing against Bears backup Tyson Bagent, it’ll be a close spread against Dallas next week.
If not, I thoroughly expect the Packers to beat up on this Cowboys’ defense in Week 6.
