Tulsa CB Reggie Robinson II is a Sleeper the Cowboys Should Consider

The Dallas Cowboys are likely to lose Cornerback Byron Jones to free agency who’s price tag will be in the 16-18 million range annually, far exceeding the 12-13 million price tag the franchise had him valued as. Also, Anthony Brown, who’s been the team’s nickel corner for quite some time, will be an unrestricted free agent next week.

This leaves potentially two holes at cornerback, but some think the Cowboys could double-dip at the position in the draft. If that is the case there’s a sleeper out of Tulsa the Cowboys could steal in the third or fourth round, Reggie Robinson II.

As a redshirt freshman in 2016 Robinson immediately made an impact with 37 tackles, seven passes defended, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. His redshirt sophomore season was much of the same with 38 tackles and nine passes defended. 2018 would be a rough season for Robinson as an injury limited him to eight games, however, he did manage to get 19 tackles and five passes defended. Robinson finished his collegiate career in grand fashion with 38 tackles, four interceptions, 13 passes defended, and two fumble recoveries while garnering First-Team All-AAC honors.

Robinson has very good ball skills that helped him get 34 pass break-ups (also blocked four field goals in college). His size at 6’1 205 allows him to match up with bigger receivers. He has the speed to keep up with faster wideouts, as he showed at the NFL Combine when he ran a 4.44 in the 40-yard dash. Very versatile in his skill set with the ability to play press-man and zone. He could come in and challenge for the third spot on the depth chart at cornerback.

Scouting report according to NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein

Mid-late round gems are found every year in the draft and Reggie Robinson has a chance to be one. With corner now being a top priority, he’s definitely a name the Cowboys should keep an eye on.

I write dope stuff about the Dallas Cowboys and what not.
