Amari Cooper will be a part of the Dallas Cowboys for the 2025 season.

The Dallas Cowboys need a wide receiver to help CeeDee Lamb, and Amari Cooper is a good fit, even if he is getting older.

Several teams around the NFL have had the chance to sign Amari Cooper, but have not done so. There could be reasons behind this, but Cooper can still produce if put in the right situation.

The perfect situation may be returning to Dallas, where he will not be considered the number one receiver.

Amari Cooper’s Last Few Seasons

He has had up-and-down seasons since being traded from the Dallas Cowboys to the Cleveland Browns in 2022.

The rollercoaster-type seasons could involve quarterback play and not being comfortable with the system.

In 2022, his first season in Cleveland, Amari Cooper had over 1,100 yards receiving and nine touchdowns.

He followed that up with over 1,200 yards and five touchdowns in 2023.

Cooper was traded to the Buffalo Bills mid-season from the Cleveland Browns in 2024. He would end the season with 547 yards and four touchdowns.

The 2024 season may be an outlier because he received 21 fewer targets than his career average of 106. He ended the season with 85 targets.

Injuries played a part, and being traded mid-season would make learning a new offensive system challenging.

Amari Cooper Would Work in Dallas

Amari Cooper would work in Dallas because he is used to playing in the city. He knows the pressure of being a Cowboy and how to handle the constant publicity.

He also knows how to play lined up with CeeDee Lamb because he did it for two years in 2020 and 2021.

Cooper was the de facto number one receiver in those seasons, but Lamb started to take over that title in 2022.

Cooper has gotten to that age, and free agency is showing it. He may not be a number one receiver anymore, but he would make a great number two.

An entire offseason in Dallas with a new coaching staff and a healthy Dak Prescott could produce a good one-two punch for the Cowboys’ offense.

Last season, CeeDee Lamb had 152 targets because none of the other receivers could get open. Jalen Tolbert was the next wide receiver in line with 79 targets.

Having Cooper in the mix would alleviate some of the pressure on Lamb. If Cooper could get around 90 targets, and a rookie receiver got some targets, it would even out the offense.

If 90 targets could happen, and he could keep his 12.4-yard average, it would get him over 1,100 receiving yards.

Having two 1,000-yard receivers would be a major benefit to this offense, who also want to get the run game going. Cooper is also a good run blocker, which would help.

Contract Projection

It may be hard to project a contract for Amari Cooper, especially after the Stefon Diggs contract.

Diggs signed with the New England Patriots and received a three-year, $69 million contract with 26 million guaranteed.

No one thought Stefon Diggs would receive that contract at his age and due to his injury history. This news shocked many in the football world.

At this point in free agency, Cooper could be a possibility for a one-year deal, and we all know how much the front office likes one-year deals.

The Cowboys should offer him a one-year deal worth $15 million.

This deal would help the Cowboys slowly develop a rookie receiver and acquire proven talent on the offensive side of the ball.

The past is the past, and hopefully, the Cowboys and Amari Cooper can settle their differences from a few years ago.

If they can and a deal can be made, it would benefit both parties.

The Cowboys would be getting a potential 1,000-yard receiver, and Amari Cooper could look for a bigger deal next offseason.

Is it a possibility? Yes. Will it happen? Probably not, but the potential for a reunion is getting more likely as the offseason progresses.

Nit happeneing in any way. And anyone giving Cooper more than 8 or 10 million should be fiired. Cowboys have zero interest in Cooper. This is about as likely as the Dak trade rumors. 100% zero chance, not going to happen.

Amari Cooper “should” be a Cowboy in 2025.

Love your optimism, but Jerry’s ego will never let this happen, as it would require him to acknowledge that he made a mistake. Jerry is smarter than all the other GMs and he doesn’t make mistakes.

The Jerry not making mistakes is not true but they should get amari and they should get Ashton Jeanty if he is there at 12 pick or trade up to get him quick.

I love amari cooper but if I was him I would not even consider coming back to dallas. Look what they did to zeke when he came back. They put him in poor blocking schemes and with amari it would be similar except with routes. I always loved to watch amari. The play would start and i’m looking around “where is amari where is amari”. Then bam touchdown amari cooper. No our gm cant look like he makes mistakes so amari will find a much better fit somewhere else.

Jerra ruins players. He has screwed up a championship caliber team over his ego. He had what could have been the greatest football coach of all time in Jimmie Johnson. No telling how many superbowl trophies the cowboys could have had, but jerra,s ego got in the way and we have not sniffed a championship in 30 years.

You do realize they went to the NFC championship game in 94 and won the super bowl in 95, the first 2 seasons after Jimmy left. How many super bowls do you think they were going to win with Jimmy? Yes he was a better coach than Switzer but dynasties only last so long in the NFL.

Between the click bait headline… “He ended the season with 44 targets.” And played with Lamb in “2021 and 2022.” .. This article is a mess.

The knock on Cooper is the same as it’s ever been, he’s fragile. Even in his prime, he was always “fighting through” some ailment. It hasn’t gotten better now that he’s past his prime. Always dinged up, questionable if his heart is in it even when he’s supposedly 100%. He can be lackadaisical one game and then go off the next. You just never know what you’re going to get…kind of like with Dak.

Exactly how we got him those few years back, so we know he can come in and get right to work. Instant success with Dak. I hope they at least kick the tires and try to bring him back we need another established vet in the WR room helping our young guys the talent is there. Unfortunately I don’t think our run game is gonna make anything easy for Dak this year. Let’s hope I’m wrong can’t wait for draft weekend!!

I love how some people are giving the writer crap while they cant even make a complete sentence or spell simple words correctly. Wtf does “readed” or “selary” even mean?
If your going to throw shade on someone, at least dont look like an idiot doing it. I doubt some of the haters even realized that he was making fun of them in his replies.
