Cowboys have 2 coaches that can call plays instead of Brian Schottenheimer

Yes, that is the title of this post, and you and I both know that is never going to happen, but honestly, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to look into.

The Dallas Cowboys have two coaches on staff that could step in tomorrow and start calling plays for this team, and honestly, it would probably serve them better.

I have said it 100 times, but I have NEVER been a fan of a head coach calling plays, I don’t even like Sean Peyton doing it over there in Denver, I did not like it with Jason Garrett or Mike McCarthy and I sure as heck don’t like it with Brian Schottenheimer.

Anyway, let’s be honest with ourselves, not only does the coaching need to be better, but so do the players, the issue is, the offensive game plan is the same every single week, this offense is so predictable.

The funny thing about Schotty is that he got killed on social media yesterday including a tweet from a former player when he was the offensive coordinator with the Jets the year they played in the AFC Championship game in back-to-back years.

Braylon Edwards tweeted that watching the Cowboys’ offense struggle two weeks in a row reminded him of why the Jets’ offense was “terrible” in back-to-back AFC title games in 2009 and 2010.

He called Schotty a “mid” offensive coordinator, and guess what, he is exactly right. Check out the tweet below.

Watching the @dallascowboys struggle two weeks in a row reminded me of why we as a Jets offense were terrible in back to back afc championship games in ’09’ and ’10’….mid OC by the name of Brian Schottenheimer.

Ken Dorsey

If you did not know, Ken Dorsey is on the staff currently. He is the offensive pass game specialist.

Dorsey is a bit of a interesting one. He was previously the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills and was fired, but the Bills ultimately finished the 2022 season second in points scored and yardage in Dorsey’s first year as offensive coordinator.

They lost in the playoffs that year to the AFC Champion Bengals, but struggled in the playoffs, but still, Dorsey has play-calling experience, and he would be the guy that I would look to before anyone.

Look, at the end of the day, he can’t be any worse at running a game plan out there than the dang head coach who calls the plays he did the last two games. It is simple stuff.

Klayton Adams

Klayton would be my second choice behind Dorsey, and the main reason for that is the fact that he has never actually called plays, but is currently the Cowboys offensive coordinator.

We saw Adams call a game without any of the starters in preseason and it did not exactly go well, but nothing went well if we are being honest, but he is a guy that if they decide to let Schotty stop calling plays, would probably get the first chance.

The issue I have again is that I think Schotty is bad enough at his job that maybe he should just worry about being a head coach first, let someone else focus on calling the plays and figuring out the game plan.

The one thing I know for sure about Adams, though, is that he is going to run the dang football, and on Sunday night, that is something that they didn’t do in the second half.

It was a 10-point game with nearly 15 minutes left, and the offense ran 38 more plays and he called a PASS on 37 of them. He is just making this offense go backwards.

People are seeing it everywhere, his former players, other guys in the media who coached and played the game a professional level, and yet, Jerry Jones and the front office will just let this garbage happen.

“The longer [Brian Schottenheimer] coaches, the worse it gets… This is all Jerry Jones. He got a bargain at head coach. He wanted a bargain, that’s exactly what he got.”

I think the first thing before firing the dang guy would be to let someone else call plays. If the team is still bad, just wipe the entire staff in the next month, show some pride. Jerry, oh wait as long as he gets to talk to the media he doesn’t care!
