Cowboys loss to Eagles shows the importance of this player

As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for the last game of the season, the blowout loss to the Eagles on Sunday was one that many probably did not think would happen, but rather a game that they could have played a little better in.

Cooper Rush threw for only 147 passing yards while also throwing two interceptions.

The team’s leading receiver was veteran Brandin Cooks, who finished the game with four receptions for 52 yards.

Jalen Tolbert was the next in line, who finished with just three receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown. Time and time again the offense missed one player and that player was CeeDee Lamb.

Most Important

The poor passing attack from Rush showed that he indeed is not the guy that some would like him to be but without Lamb, the offense is maybe the worst in football.

Lamb, who has been playing through an AC sprain in his shoulder since Week 9, is undergoing a process of treatment and rehabilitation for his shoulder, is not currently expected to require surgery and is projected to make a full recovery.

CeeDee finished the season with two quarterbacks throwing him the ball. He had 101 receptions, 1,194 yards, and six touchdowns. The star wideout has had four straight seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards, proving himself to be one of the more consistent playmakers in the league.

After signing a $136-million dollar extension this offseason, Lamb proved once again that he is the most important player on this football team. Yes, Lamb, not Dak Prescott, not Trevon Diggs, Micah Parsons or anyone else.

QB Proof

“He might be the best player that I’ve seen with my own eyes, he just loves the game of football,” Micah Parsons said. “I don’t think anyone should ever question how much CeeDee brings to the team or his factor.”

Parsons added that Lamb is “QB-proof,” and can find a way to succeed with any quarterback getting him the ball.

It is true, it does not matter who is behind center, Lamb is going to put on a clinic and show up every single day.

In his fifth NFL season, Lamb has filled up entries into the history books, including becoming the first player in Cowboys history to record 1,000 yards in four of his first five season in the NFL.

In Sunday’s win over Tampa Bay two weeks ago, Lamb also passed Jerry Rice for the fourth-most scrimmage yards by a receiver in their first five seasons.

2025

So with all of that said, where does that leave them heading into 2025? Lamb, Prescott and others should be back from injury, and they can start fresh. The only problem is they are going to have the same head coach.

Mike McCarthy is going to get a pass for all the injuries and return next season, I can feel it.

Jerry Jones is going to do nothing to make them better this offseason either, and in fact, they are going to get so much worse when they lose guys like Brandin Cooks and others.

The game plan should be whatever it was when Rush became the starter, just get the ball in CeeDee’s hands. Rico Dowdle is the first Cowboys undrafted free agent to rush for over 1K yards, and maybe next year they will ride him, and not try to use a running back by committee.

This team is going to have a lot of money invested in three players once Micah gets signed this offseason, and with little wiggle room, it seems like CeeDee Lamb is going to be in for another heavy workload in 2025, in what hopes to be a much better outcome and a return to the playoffs.
