Six Pro Bowls in six seasons. Four First Team All Pro selections in six seasons.
Yeah, Cowboys guard Zack Martin is on a Hall of Fame trajectory.
Martin earned yet another accolade this week, being named 51st on the Pro Football Focus All Decade list. Martin has been the best guard in football for a few seasons now, and is really only in competition with Quenton Nelson for that honor entering the 2020 season.
“One of the most consistently dominant linemen in the league every year, Zack Martin may have been the third-most-heralded lineman on his own offensive line for the better part of his career, often taking a backseat while Tyron Smith and Travis Frederick were heavily praised. However, the past few seasons have seen him elevate his game and earn far more recognition in his own right.”
Honestly – 51st overall feels way too low for Zack Martin given his resume.
Martin has arguably been a top 2-3 guard each season since he’s entered the league, and six seasons out of the decade is not a small sample size.
I’ll be interested to see if any other guards make this list going forward, because Martin is probably better than any of them.
Martin is the first active Dallas Cowboys to be on the list, though Dez Bryant was named 75th overall. I’d expect to see Tyron Smith and possibly Travis Frederick later on as well, though Martin is probably better than Frederick, especially when you consider the trajectory of Frederick’s career.
