The 2024 season for the Dallas Cowboys has been a wild ride thus far, and last night’s game was another chapter in a book that nobody wanted to read this season.
In a game where the Cowboys had chance after chance to win, things took a hit early in the 4th quarter. Not only did they lose the game, but they again lost maybe one of the best things going for them this season, and with it happening in December, they could be without him for an entire calendar year.
As owner Jerry Jones noted, there is real uncertainty about if DeMarvion Overshown can return for 2025. Thus, Jones mentioning the 2026 season as a target for his return.
As devastating a knee injury as one can imagine, with full reconstruction coming. https://t.co/0ColvE5FxD

DeMarvion Overshown
In a season of season-ending surgeries, after losing Dak Prescott and Zach Martin to these, now DeMarvion Overshown will miss the rest of the year with a knee injury.
Overshown suffered a knee injury during the fourth quarter of Monday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was helped off the field and visibly in pain.
According to Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, the sophomore linebacker will have surgery on his right knee and will get an MRI on Tuesday.
It has been reported that he tore his tore the ACL, MCL and PCL…… I am so sick to my stomach about this.
No way he is going to play in 2025. That is how bad it is. I hate this for him. He was a star in the making for this team, and every good thing that happens for them goes down the drain.
I am sick to my stomach about this. He was such a rising star, and was going to be an amazing linebacker for this team for years to come.
“I don’t know at this time the time-date on his rehab,” Jones said, “but I just can’t tell you how bad I feel for him because he’s just been through that mental and physical rehab on his other knee … It’s the toughest time for a player. And we all see the loss and know what it’s going to mean for us in our remaining four games. Bottom line is it’s really sad that he’s having to have this surgery for him as an individual and obviously us as a team.”
Overshown took a hit to the side of his right leg on a 2-yard run by Chase Brown with 12:49 left in the game.
He remained on the field unable to move his leg before the medical team arrived to treat him. He immediately went to the locker room for more examination.
After the game, Mike McCarthy said it was “of a serious nature,” and “it’s not good.” Overshown missed his rookie season in 2023 with a torn ACL in his left knee.
“I think the whole sideline felt that because it didn’t look good,” McCarthy said. “It definitely hit a lot of the guys.”
This injury is likely more than damage to simply one ligament, and it’s occurred in mid-December.
I don’t believe we’ll see DeMarvion Overshown until 2026. But final tests are still being run.

Overshown was showing that he would be superstar in this league, and after battling back from that torn ACL, his rookie season was balling out for this team, and it sucks to see him go through this again.
Worst Season In a Long Time
From the offseason by not adding any talent and getting better, to losing Dak Prescott, Martin, Overshown and others, this is the worst season I have seen in a long time from top to bottom.
This year did not feel like the others. It started badly, got better for like 2 games, and is ending badly.
At this point, with any chance of the playoffs out of reach now, let’s see what Trey Lance has.
Prayers up for the Cowboys’ DeMarvion Overshown this morning, after last night’s devastating knee injury in the loss to the Bengals.
Teammate & friend Micah Parsons was moved to tears.
“He’s like my little bro,” Parsons said.

Cooper Rush is what he is, not good enough, and we saw that last night when Rico was not rushing for 20 yards a drive, Rush could not complete a pass.
This season has been a tough one and this team is going to struggle again in 2025 if they don’t have him or maybe Martin if he decides to hang it up.
With guys like CeeDee Lamb, Micah and Trevon Diggs, it is hard to go into a year and say tank, but man they better hit a home run in this draft or somehow land a big time guy.
Wow, this kid is hard luck. First one knee, now the other. Hopefully he can recover from this really bad double whammy. He was definitely playing at a high level.
Unfortunately, it may take longer than just one draft to get this team fixed. Too many holes and too many other teams are just way better. Philly and Wash in their own division are besting them right now. Luckily the Giants are worse, as to avoid being on the bottom.
So many blunders by this front office starting with the extension of QB1, which has to be one of the worst investments in NFL history. That imbecilic contract has so many ramifications that hurts the team, including, and not limited to, salary cap issues. Not only is QB1 regressing (47 QBR this year), but now he is injury prone, and now sits in the booth above the field while collecting $60 MILLION. He missed 11 games in 2020, 5 games in 2022, and now will miss 9 games in 2024, for a total of missing 25 games in the last 5 seasons.
Agree, putting Lance out there makes sense, but making sense doesn’t seem to work for this organization. Tom Landry is probably rolling around in his grave seeing how this once proud, successful team is run now. They are probably more concerned with putting butts in the seats and crowing about how many of their ginned-up players made that popularity contest, AKA the Pro Bowl, than winning championships. For all these “”Pro Bowl” players and “great” McClay draft picks, it doesn’t seem to be translating to PLAYOFF wins. In fact, since the “highly touted” McClay has been with the Cowboys starting in 2002, the team has a grand total of FOUR playoff wins!
BTW, the three best players on the team were devoid of McClay’s drafting “genius”. All Decade Guard Zach Martin was picked by Stephen Jones. Jerry wanted Manziel but his kid insisted on ZM and made the right choice. CeeDee just fell into their laps and was a no brainer. Philly gift wrapped Micah to them in some ill-conceived hair brain trade scenario by the Eagles.
