Cowboys should be sellers, but Jerry Jones refuses to concede defeat

Jerry Jones

As we look at the status of the Dallas Cowboys, you would think with the guys they have they should be looking to add one or two more guys at the trade deadline, but they have the worst coaching staff in football, so they should look to sell.

Yet, that won’t happen because Jerry Jones refuses to concede that this season is all but over at 3-5, even with how bad the NFC East is.

If they win that game against the Cardinals, they had a real chance to get over .500 before the 49ers head to town, but now I am not even sure they will win this week and the Colts just sold off their entire team and look horrific.

With that said, I think they should look to unload some guys and I want to drop three names that will probably heat up over the next four or five days, but we will probably see them go nowhere if they win on Sunday.

George Pickens

I think the first is pretty cut and dry. GP gives you the best value in terms of return. Schotty refuses to get him and CeeDee Lamb going in the same game, and Pickens has become more of a throw-up to him and hopes he makes the catch.

The head coach and play caller has yet to come up with a scheme to make him the dominant wide receiver that he is.

Pickens is currently playing on the tag, and would look to get near the top of the market money next season, and at this point I am about 50/50 on him returning as a Dallas Cowboy. He is a stud, and we all know he is, but he is checked out a little bit and honestly Lamb looks to be also at times. That is a coaching thing.

I am so sick and tired of seeing them run a slant route to both of these guys every other play, like if I can see it coming you don’t think an NFL coach and players know it’s coming?

Players the Cowboys should consider selling at the deadline:

Kenny Clark
TJ Bass
Jake Ferguson
Dee Winters
Cobie Durant

None of these players would cost more than a Day 3 pick.

Jake Ferguson

Jake Ferguson is not going to cost teams more than a day-3 pick and honestly, the way they are using Brev-Spann Ford over the last few weeks, he might see the door at the end of the year anyway.

Brev is a better blocker, and he is becoming a much better pass catcher, so he can be in all the time and teams have to worry about him not only blocking but running a route. Ferg hasn’t just been the same player since that contract, shocker, right?

He had a decent year a season ago, but currently has only 17 catches for 117 yards and three touchdowns. That is not good enough for the money that is being paid.

He got injured yesterday with a low ankle sprain, but has been out snapped by Brev in the last two games either way.

I think it might be time to move off him, and trading him would actually cost the Cowboys additional cap space rather than creating immediate relief, but it is probably time for him to go.

I have absolutely no idea how anybody from the #Cowboys front office, from owner Jerry Jones down, can look at the last two home games — incredibly bad losses to the Buccaneers and Cardinals — and be encouraged in the slightest.

Rashan Gary

Let’s face the music here, Rashan Gary has been a disaster for this Cowboys defense. He currently has one sack, 19 total tackles and only one tackle for loss.

It is horrendous, and honestly, it may only cost a team like a 5th round pick to get him off of the Cowboys, but again, Jerry Jones won’t trade him because he does not want to act like he has given up on the Micah Parsons deal and how the team he put together starting with the coaching staff is good enough.

You have a home loss to the Bucs with a backup quarterback and the Cardinals who lit you up for 300 total yards in 16 total mins of action in the second half, I just don’t understand how he looks at this and has any beliefs at all other than he just refused to concede defeat because he never stops talking to the media!

He won’t do it!
