The Dallas Cowboys selected Southern Miss defensive back Eric Scott Jr. with the 178th pick in the NFL draft

The Cowboys moved to the top of the sixth round after a trade with the Chiefs to take Scott.

Dallas the Chiefs a 2024 fifth-round pick in exchange for the first pick of sixth round (No. 178 overall).

According to those close to the team, Dallas hosted Scott on a 30 visit. Did not want to risk losing him, but I am scratching my head on this one.

He was ranked as the 52nd best corner in the draft, it just seems very odd. To me, he seems more like a special teams player, or someone they can throw on the field in zone coverage.

In 2022, Scott finished with 27 tackles, two for loss, seven passes defended. He had two interceptions both he took to the house for touchdowns, so maybe he is a guy that could do something, maybe?

At 6-foot, 197 pounds, Scott has the size and quickness to make it difficult for wide receivers to gain any sort of separation. That could have been something this team looked at when deciding to trade up for him.
