It’s finally draft week and the 2024 NFL Draft is just a few days away where the Chicago Bears are waiting to make the first overall pick.
I decided to do a full NFC East 7-round mock draft to see how the division rivals can draft players in an attempt to overtake their division counterparts.
The Washington Commanders lead the way with nine total picks followed by the Philadelphia Eagles with eight, the Dallas Cowboys with seven, and finally the New York Giants with six picks.
For the sake of not losing my mind trying to play pretend general manager for four different teams, there will be no projected trades in this mock draft.
Round 1
Washington Commanders Pick 2
Selection: QB Jayden Daniels, LSU
New York Giants Pick 6
Selection: WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State
Philadelphia Eagles Pick 22
Selection: DE Jared Verse, Florida State
Dallas Cowboys Pick 24
Selection: OL Graham Barton, Duke
Each team has just one pick in the 1st round and each addressed a current need on their respective rosters.
The Commanders selected their quarterback of the future by taking LSU’s Jayden Daniels right after the Bears chose QB Caleb Williams.
A gift from the draft gods falls into the Giants’ laps when the Cardinals and Chargers chose WRs Rome Odunze and Malik Nabers, respectively over Marvin Harrison Jr.
The Eagles also feel like they have a great player to fall into their laps when DE Jared Verse is available at pick 22.
In the Cowboys’ War Room, they are doing back flips when versatile OL Graham Barton makes it to pick 24, giving them the flexibility they crave.
Round 2
Washington Commanders Pick 36
Selection: OL Jordan Morgan, Arizona
Washington Commanders Pick 40
Selection: EDGE Adisa Isaac, Penn State
New York Giants Pick 47
Selection: QB Bo Nix, Oregon
Philadelphia Eagles Pick 50
Selection: WR Ricky Pearsall, Florida
Philadelphia Eagles Pick 53
Selection: CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr., Missouri
Dallas Cowboys Pick 56
Selection: LB Edgerrin Cooper, Texas A&M
The Commanders and Eagles lead the way in the 2nd round with two picks each sandwiched around the Giants, with the Cowboys closing out the round at pick 56.
Washington adds to the trenches with versatile OL Jordan Morgan followed by intriguing Penn State EDGE Adisa Isaac.
New York adds QB Bo Nix, a sign that Daniel Jones is on his last leg as the starting quarterback.
Philadelphia adds talent to skill positions on both sides of the ball with WR Ricky Pearsall and CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
The Eagles have struggled to match talent with other teams at WR3 and CB3. They fix that in one fell swoop.
Cowboys’ DC Mike Zimmer is happy to add LB Edgerrin Cooper from Texas A&M, filling another need with great value.
Round 3
Washington Commanders Pick 67
Selection: CB Mike Sainristil, Michigan
New York Giants Pick 70
Selection: T Blake Fisher, Notre Dame
Washington Commanders Pick 78
Selection: RB Bucky Irving, Oregon
Dallas Cowboys Pick 87
Selection: RB Jaylen Wright, Tennessee
Washington Commanders Pick 100
Selection: TE Erick All, Iowa
Washington again leads the way in round three with three of the five total NFC East picks, giving them six total picks in the top 100.
They add CB Mike Sainristil, explosive RB Bucky Irving, and talented TE Erick All.
New York looks to improve their offensive line to protect their new quarterback by drafting OT Blake Fisher from Notre Dame.
The Cowboys’ last pick for nearly two full rounds brings explosiveness and playmaking ability back to the running back room.
RB Jaylen Wright has all the tools needed to be a top running back in the league.
Round 4
New York Giants Pick 107
Selection: S Calen Bullock, USC
Philadelphia Eagles Pick 120
Selection: LB Tommy Eichenberg, Ohio State
Washington Commanders Pick 139
Selection: S Cole Bishop, Utah
Washington Commanders Pick 152
Selection: C Hunter Nourzad, Penn State
With the first pick outside of the top 100, the Giants bolster the back end of their secondary with the selection of S Calen Bullock from USC.
The Eagles strengthen the second level of their defense by taking LB Tommy Eichenberg from Ohio State.
Washington again owns multiple picks in the round, taking a versatile safety, Cole Bishop for Dan Quinn to play with followed by strong center prospect Hunter Nourzad.
Round 5
Philadelphia Eagles Pick 161
Selection: DE Gabriel Murphy, UCLA
New York Giants Pick 166
Selection: LB Trevin Wallace, Kentucky
Philadelphia Eagles Pick 171
Selection: C Beaux Limmer, Arkansas
Philadelphia Eagles Pick 172
Selection: S Kitan Oladapo, Oregon State
Dallas Cowboys Pick 174
Selection: CB Kalen King, Penn State
The 5th round belongs to Philadelphia and their three picks, including back-to-back picks at 171 and 172.
Their first selection of the round bolsters their EDGE depth once again. This time the pick is DE Gabriel Murphy from UCLA.
With their remaining two picks, they take a player I was hoping would fall to the Cowboys at 174, C Beaux Limmer.
They finish out their 5th-round picks by adding depth to their safety room with Kitan Oladapo from Oregon State.
Dallas adds depth to the cornerback room by selecting CB Kalen King, a player whose draft stock fell after a down year in 2023.
The 2022 season showed us his talent level is better than what he showed this past season.
Round 6
New York Giants Pick 183
Selection: RB Kimani Vidal, Troy
Philadelphia Eagles Pick 210
Selection: DT Jordan Jefferson, LSU
Dallas Cowboys Pick 216
Selection: DT Khristian Boyd, Northern Iowa
There were only three picks in the 6th round. The Commanders are the only NFC East team absent from the round.
The Giants add talent to their running back room with RB Kimani Vidal, a powerful and explosive back from Troy.
Philadelphia and Dallas both draft depth on the defensive interior, the Eagles taking Jordan Jefferson from LSU.
I was hoping DT McKinnley Jackson would fall to pick 216 for the Cowboys, but the San Francisco 49ers snatched him up right after Philly’s pick.
Instead, Dallas adds 317-pound DT Khristian Boyd to help shore up their vacant 1-tech position.
Round 7
Washington Commanders Pick 222
Selection: WR Casey Washington, Illinois
Dallas Cowboys Pick 233
Selection: WR Joshua Cephus, UTSA
Dallas Cowboys Pick 244
Selection: DT Fabien Lovett, Florida State
The final round of the draft also features just three picks, two by Dallas and one by Washington.
Washington adds size and speed to their wide receiver room with Casey Washington from Illinois.
The Cowboys do the same with 6’3″ WR Joshua Cephus, the Texas native from UTSA.
Dallas again adds beef to the defensive interior with their final pick of the draft, DT Fabien Lovett from Florida State.
