The Dallas Cowboys are going to be seeing a familiar face twice a year next season.
Kellen Moore was hired as the Eagles offensive coordinator Saturday night.
Moore spent last season as the OC for the Los Angeles Chargers and Justin Herbert.
Before the Chargers, Moore coached for the Eagles’ division rival Dallas Cowboys from 2018-22 after his retirement as a player.
He was promoted to offensive coordinator after one season as quarterbacks coach and worked under both Jason Garrett and Mike McCarthy.
Questions About Moore
This is the third team in three years for Moore.
If that doesn’t tell you something I’m not sure what will.
Yes, the Cowboys choked in the playoffs again, but Dak Prescott was better with Mike McCarthy calling the plays.
He is a MVP finalist the year after Moore leaves.
Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense with all those weapons was not good with Moore calling the plays.
Now, Moore goes to a team who was absolutely awful down the stretch last year.
Moore will now work with Jalen Hurts, and maybe AJ Brown if he resigns, he doesn’t seem to happy there.
The Chargers ranked 18th in total offense and 21st in scoring offense last season.
With Moore calling the plays with the Cowboys, Dallas was sixth, 17th, first and fourth in scoring offense from 2019-22.
Not Worried
We saw what the Chargers offense looked right when the Cowboys played them in week 6.
They have twice the weapons that the Eagles have.
Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen Jordan Palmer, and more.
Even with Dallas Moore struggled to put games away down the stretch.
He wanted to light up the scoreboard and not run the football when he needed to and out the game on ice.
As a Cowboys fan, I am not worried about Moore calling plays for the Eagles. Dallas knows what he wants to do and likes to do.
Hurts has become back to what he was in college.
Dallas should know that they want to run the football, and Hurts is the main reason.
The other reason I’m not worried is because not the pressure is on.
After the Eagles collapse a season ago, Nick Sirianni is on the hot seat.
Adding a fresh new offensive coordinator puts even more pressure on him and Moore.
If this team flops, the Cowboys will walk away with another division title.
I get it, the Cowboys have their own problems to worry about, but Philly is the only team that can win this division other than Dallas.
They fold, and Dallas runs it back with their coaching staff, they will win the NFC East again.
This will be an interesting off-season.
Dan Quinn is still out there looking for a head coaching job with either Seattle or Washington.
If he doesn’t land one, he will problem be back calling the defense.
I don’t love that, but it is what it is.
It’ll be fun when Dallas beats up on Moore twice next season and folks understand why he is now in his third team in three years.
