Dallas Cowboys Linebacker Micah Parsons has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week following his huge game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8.
The rookie had 10 tackles, four of them for a loss, to lead the defense and help Dallas overcome the absence of QB Dak Prescott to get the victory. The Cowboys improved to 6-1 on the year, their sixth-straight victory, as Parsons continued to validate being a 1st-Round pick last April.

Already the betting favorite to be Defensive Rookie of the Year, Micah has already emerged as one of the better defensive players in all of football. He’s on track to follow Leighton Vander Esch in 2018 as a rare rookie to make the Pro Bowl.
After having no Defensive Player of the Week awards in 2020, Dallas has now seen two guys recognized this year. CB Trevon Diggs received the honor in Week 4 after his two-INT performance against the Carolina Panthers.
Congratulations to Micah Parsons for this well-deserved award! We know it’s just the first of many.
I’m not surprised. When his experience catches up to his otherworldly talent, your looking at a pro bowl player.
The quick emergence of Parsons as a force, the evolution of Diggs, a pro bowl year from Gregory, the production of the FA defenders and the surprising rookies have this defense looking better then anyone envisioned. The addition of D Lawrence, Gallimore and Hill should continue to strengthen that unit.
If we can mitigate the injuries, this could be a special year for us.
Agree gary b, MP is a force. if I remember correctly, we both had MP very much on our radar before the draft. Love they made that trade to be able to pick him.
The defense play a huge role in our win vs Vikes, and MP (love those TFL) along with RG, in particular, played great. BTW, love RG’s aggressiveness even on that sideline hit penalty that was debatable.
Nothing like being in a contract year (Gregory) to motivate a player. Yes we were both high on MP as most scouts were. Luckily the cowboys didn’t listen to those that were skeptical about drafting a LB so high.
To hold a good offensive team like the Vikings to 16 pts (without a TO) is indicative of how well this defense as a whole is coming along. If that trend continues, we can beat anybody.
