Happy Wednesday, Cowboys fans.
Dallas isn’t signing Hopkins, so we can forget that before I start this.
So as I looked at the depth chart of the Cowboys for the 100th time this offseason, I thought to myself, who will impress this summer and earn that 4th spot in September?
Well, we have Simi Fehoko, Jalen Tolbert or Dennis Houston.

Those are the current three this team will have to work with as the new season grows near.
Last season Houston started the season behind CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown for the first two weeks.
In those two games, he hauled in two catches for 16 yards. Fehoko played five games and caught three balls for 24 yards, while Tolbert had a tough time from the start.
He appeared in just eight games, catching two passes for 12 yards. Most of the time, he was a healthy scratch.
Whatever happened with Tolbert last year is still a mystery.
Most of us think he could not get up to speed from college to the NFL, and that is fair, but we never got the reasoning behind his lack of progression.
I am still trying to figure that out in May of 2023.
As of May 31st, the three guys above are the most likely to have a shot at locking down the 4th wide receiver spot.
Before I get into who it will be, all three players could still see the field in different packages, etc., even if they are not slotted at the 4th wideout.
I still think folks are still downplaying how huge of a move it was trading for Brandin Cooks.
He produces everywhere he goes and then some.
Michael Gallup returns from injury and says he finally feels back to his old self. It is crazy the change from a year ago.
Around this time a year ago, I found myself asking who would step up and be the guy behind Lamb until Gallup returned.
It got so bad they had to sign T.Y Hilton, and he immediately became the second-best guy on the team behind Lamb.
Now I wonder who will be the WR4; it makes things feel much better going into 2023.
If that team won 12 games a year ago, they can do it again. Tony Pollard is on track to return to his expulsive self & let’s not forget about Deuce Vaughn.
I think he will play a significant role in the passing game—he is such an explosive player.
As of 9 in the morning on May 31st, I lean toward Fehoko.
It is hard to guess right now, and any of the three might need a big training camp to lock in that spot for themselves.
If Fehoko isn’t the guy, then I’ll roll with Tolbert. Fehoko has a nice size/speed combination but needs to be consistent. I can’t lie though, I really hope it is Tolbert.
All three have something to prove and probably want that spot in the rotation more than anyone because it is wide open.
Yes, the Cowboys also have some guys like Jalen Moreno-Cropper, and Jalen Brooks, but let’s hold off on them right now.
Time will tell; I will revisit this plenty of times, but for now, let’s enjoy this roster being in a much better spot than last season at this time.
