Troy Aikman Backs Dak Prescott Following Super Bowl Comments

Former NFL star Troy Aikman has moved to defend Dak Prescott following comments made by the Dallas Cowboys quarterback in relation to how much his team can achieve.

The AT&T Stadium outfit experienced a 7-10 losing season, which meant they failed to enter the postseason, and as such, many pundits and NFL fans in general will have been a tad confused by the statement made by the 31-year-old, three-time Pro Bowl pick.

Dak Prescott had claimed that the Cowboys were every bit as good as the Philadelphia Eagles, who had, of course, just beaten the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, leaving many scratching their heads in disbelief.

Dallas Cowboys fans who are hopeful of their team mounting a genuine push to win their first NFL Super Bowl title since 1995 might want to back that hunch with a bet, in which case access here to the best sportsbook promo code offerings will prove very advantageous indeed.

Watching their NFC East rivals win the ultimate prize will have stung, and perhaps that’s what fueled Prescott’s response to his team’s position at a recent charity gala, where he stated:

“I feel like we’ve competed with the Eagles and beat them for the most part when we’ve played them.

“I don’t want to say, ‘Check the record,’ when they’re the guys holding the trophy right now, so credit to them. They’ve earned it, and they deserved it by all means but, yeah, very close.

“Especially even watching the NFC championship and those two teams, teams that we battle against each and every year a couple of times.

“As I said, feel confident that we’ve gotten the better part each and every time, but just seeing such a dominating fashion, credit to them. It’s our turn, and it’s on us,” Prescott added.

Last season, the Cowboys finished third in the division, behind both the Philadelphia Eagles and the vastly improved Washington Commanders, but perhaps he still has a point.

After all, in the previous campaign, it was Dallas who led the way, finishing 12-5 before limping out at the first hurdle in the postseason to the Green Bay Packers.

Cowboys legend Aikman looked to diffuse the situation when discussing the apparent intentions Prescott was attempting to put across with his comments, the three-time Super Bowl winner stating,

“I was with Dak when he made those comments. It’s a crazy world right now.

“You say something, and the next thing you know, it’s on social media, and it’s kind of mischaracterized. It’s not what was intended or what exactly was said.”

Last season’s poor showing saw head coach Mike McCarthy ending his five-year tenure, with Dan Quinn, the team’s defensive coordinator, having left the previous season to aid the upward trajectory of the Washington Commanders.

New head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, will hope to turn things around in the coming season and will need a free-flowing Prescott at his best to help make that happen.

2025 will be his 10th season; he will be focused on finally taking the team deep into the postseason action and perhaps even all the way to a long-awaited Super Bowl.
