Round 2, Pick 60

I for one thought that the CB position was a bigger need that needed to be addressed in the first round, but since the Cowboys decided to try and improve their pass rush with that pick they absolutely had to find a cornerback in round two.

I was really excited that Awuzie was still on the board for the Dallas Cowboys at 60. I actually had a late 1st/early 2nd grade on him and thought it was a long shot he would still be available. But, he thankfully fell right in the lap of the Cowboys.

Awuzie’s ability to play nearly any position in the secondary is one of the reasons I was so high on him and why his addition instantly upgrades the backend of the Cowboys defense. It’s really exciting all of the different ways he can be utilized on defense and the Cowboys coaching staff can really get creative with the way they disguise their coverages now.

I believe Awuzie is a Day 1 starter on the outside, which is why I give this Cowboys draft pick a Grade A.
