Round 6, Pick 211

The Cowboys drafting Marquez White was one of the more surprising things they did. Spending another draft pick on a third CB seems a bit excessive, especially for player that is going to have a hard time making the team.

The only reason why I can think they drafted White is for insurance in case Jourdan Lewis’ DV case somehow doesn’t get resolved and he has to miss some time his rookie season. I personally think they could’ve found someone in the seventh or as a priority free agent about as talented as White, which makes this selection even more confusing.

I don’t know if White is talented enough to ever become a starting caliber CB in the NFL. He is best as a press man CB, but lacks the catch up speed to to stick with the speedy receivers down the field.

I think I’m going to give this particular Cowboys draft pick a Grade C+, because I think he is a longshot to even make the team. At best, he may be nothing more than a special teams player as a rookie.
