Round 3, Pick 92

I was personally really surprised that the Cowboys decided to double dip so early at the cornerback position with the selection of Lewis. I was even more surprised that he was still the Cowboys draft board considering he still has a domestic violence case pending. But, having said that I think he might have the most upside out of the entire 2017 Cowboys draft class.

Lewis likely would’ve been a first-round draft pick if he was a little bit taller, but even at his current size he probably wouldn’t have made it out of the second round. I think he is going to step in and become the Cowboys starting nickel CB as a rookie, which could allow Orlando Scandrick to move to the outside full-time.

Lewis is another player that helps with the flexibility of how the Cowboys deploy their secondary. I think they might have been better served to go another direction, but if his DV gets dismissed, he could be a steal in the third round. Right now, I’m going to give this Cowboys draft pick a Grade A (?) until his off the field issues are resolved.
