BREAKING: Sam Williams arrested on controlled substance and weapon charges

Sam Williams was reportedly arrested on Sunday on controlled substance and weapon charges, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Frisco police arrested Williams for possession of a controlled substance and the unlawful carrying of a weapon.

From early reports, the possession of controlled substance is listed as a low-level state felony, while the weapon charge is a misdemeanor.

Williams was arrested Sunday in Frisco for allegedly possessing less than 1 gram of THC and unlawfully carrying a weapon, according to a story from Michael Gehlken. A report for the Dallas Morning News.

Yet again, he finds himself in trouble after the news of his arrest dropped Wednesday afternoon.

Clarence Hill, a reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram covering the Dallas Cowboys, was first with the news.

Just a few weeks shy of the start of the 2023 NFL regular season, Williams was poised to have a more significant role in Dan Quinn’s defense.

On the football field, Williams is such a promising and complete defensive end.

I find it hard to understand why he continues to put himself in these situations. Does he want to play the game of football or not?

He clearly can’t stay out of trouble.

In January, Williams turned himself in after being charged with reckless driving.

I have no further details than what we have been told on the surface. Not sure if Dallas will keep him around, cut him, etc. this just makes no sense.

After a solid quiet offseason, something just had to drop right before the season started, huh? Hope the players keep their heads down and stay on the grind.

This is a developing story, once new information is made available it will be updated.

Before the draft, he was said to have some kind of “off field issue(s)”. I had hoped after he was picked by Dallas, he would have his head screwed on straight and that jackassery/criminality was behind him. I see it’s not.
If these charges are real, good player or not, CUT HIM!!! Don’t need a potential cancer in the locker room.

Don’t cut him. This is the NFL. Pretty tame compared to what other players do. There wasn’t any violence.

Previously, driving 100 MPH while weaving thru traffic and hitting another vehicle, causing hospitalization for the other driver.
Now illegal carrying of a gun charge and possession of a controlled substance.
Yeah, real tame, so let’s kept this guy around?!?! He’ll be good for the locker room.

What kind of weapon charge could he get in Texas? Is he a convicted felon?

some people just don’t understand or comprehend the gift they are given when coming to the nfl. But hey it is the nfl and since sam is though to be another Micah, jerrah has no problem with lawlessness.
