The Cowboys win yesterday came with a cost. According to multiple sources, starting tackle Terence Steele is out for the year after his MRI revealed a torn ACL.
The injury occurred when Steele stepped on quarterback Dak Prescott’s foot in the second quarter.
He was helped off the field and went to the locker room. The news was confirmed at around 11 a.m. CT. Monday.
Steele has been one of the best offensive linemen for the Cowboys this season. What hurts the most is that they are getting Tyron Smith back this week, and now they lose Steele.
The Cowboys first went with Josh Ball, but after being beaten several times by the Texans’ pass rush, Jason Peters turned back the clock. Peters has not played RT since 2005, but he did an AWESOME job. He was great on the 98-yard touchdown drive that won them the game.
With Steele out for the season, the Cowboys could have two future Hall of Fame guys playing both tackle spots.
We could see a few different rotations, but the way Peters looked on the final drive, there is no reason not to give him a chance. Ball looked horrible in the snaps he was given.
If Peters can play anything like he did for the last drive Sunday, I won’t worry to much right now, but we need to see if he can still play at a high level for four quarters.
The Cowboys are hitting that point in the season where injuries start to play a part in being successful, right as they get James Washington and Tyron Smith back, they lose Anthony Brown and now Steele.
The early reports say Steele should be good to go by the time training camp rolls around next season, I just hate this for him. He was an outstanding season. One of the cornerstones of the Cowboys team.
