The Dallas Cowboys’ season could be on the brink of collapse. Not helping matters is that a strong Jacksonville Jaguars is coming to town this Sunday. What’s worse, some critical defensive players are on Dallas’ injury report.
Thankfully, the Jaguars have their own health issues. Who is confirmed out, and else could be missing, for both team in Week 6?
Dallas Cowboys
- LB Sean Lee (hamstring) – OUT
- LB Joe Thomas (foot) – OUT
- WR Deonte Thompson (hamstring) – Questionable
- DE DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder) – Questionable
- DE Randy Gregory (knee) – Questionable
- DT Maliek Collins (knee) – Questionable
- CB Chidobe Awuzie (ankle) – Questionable
We’re used to seeing Sean Lee on here at this point, but DeMarcus Lawrence joining him is not a good sight. Thankfully, Tank’s shoulder issue isn’t expected to keep him from playing. Dallas need him badly this week to force Blake Bortles into some bad throws.
Also questionable from the defensive line are Randy Gregory and Maliek Collins, but Dallas has options if they can’t go. David Irving should make his 2018 debut this week, which will allow Tyrone Crawford to play DE if needed.
Missing both Lee and Joe Thomas makes Dallas thin at linebacker, but they’ve been carrying seven this year. Justin March-Lillard and rookie Chris Covington could get some extra time on the field.
Lastly, starting CB Chidobe Awuzie was limited all week but never missed practice with his ankle. He played the last week with the injury.
Jacksonville Jaguars
- RB Leonard Fournette (hamstring) – OUT
- OL Josh Wells (groin) – OUT
- CB D.J. Hayden (toe) – OUT
- CB Tre Herndon (hamstring) – OUT
Two key offensive pieces will be missing for Jacksonville. Fournette continues to be bothered with hamstring issues that have limited him all season. He will surely be upset about missing a marquee matchup against Ezekiel Elliott.
Starting left tackle Josh Wells is also ruled out this week. Fifth-year backup Josh Walker will likely start in his place, but Jacksonville did sign former Giant Ereck Flowers this week. While much maligned over his career, Flowers has way more playing experience than Walker.
Backup corners Hayden and Herndon will be out, leaving the Jags with little depth there. Former Cowboy Tyler Patmon will see a lot of playing time this week off the bench.
While not listed as “questionable” on Jacksonville’s report, star CB Jalen Ramsey missed practice on Wednesday and was limited the rest of the week with a knee issue. He’ll play, but we’ll see if the injury affects him in his long-awaited revenge match with the Cowboys.
