Dak Prescott has already put in a full game’s work with 256 passing yards and three touchdowns, and we’re only at halftime! There’s still plenty of football left as the Dallas Cowboys lead the New York Giants 21-7 midway through the 2019 season opener.
Prescott has completed touchdowns thus far to Receiver Amari Cooper and Tight Ends Jason Witten and Blake Jarwin. For Witten, his 69th career receiving TD puts him just four away from tying Dez Bryant for the all-time Cowboys record.
Michael Gallup has five catches for 84 yards and Randall Cobb’s picked up 44 yards on three catches. They are among seven different receivers that Dak has completed passes with today.
The Giants were first on the scoreboard today, thanks largely to a 59-yard run Saquon Barkley that set up a touchdown between Eli Manning and Evan Engram. But since then it’s been all Cowboys.
The Dallas offense is clicking despite low production from Ezekiel Elliott, who has just 26 rushing yards so far on seven carries. Tony Pollard has also been limited to nine yards on four carries.
On defense, Jeff Heath leads the way with five tackles and two pass deflections. One of those came at the end of the half as he knocked down a Hail Mary attempt.
Will the Dallas run game open up as New York adjusts to the Cowboys’ explosive passing? Will it even matter?
See you after the game.
