All of the Week 15 preparation has come to a head for the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday at the Buffalo Bills.
Game Summary
The visiting Cowboys won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half.
1st Quarter
On the Bills’ first drive, QB Josh Allen used his legs to convert the first 3rd down attempt of the game.
Buffalo used timely play-action passes to Stefon Diggs for chunk plays into Dallas territory.
A questionable roughing the passer penalty on a 3rd and Goal moved the Bills to the precipice of the endzone where Latavius Murray would punch it in for a touchdown.
Dallas’ first drive would also see the Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott scramble for a first down on their first 3rd down attempt.
The drive would later stall near midfield thanks to a sack taken by Prescott on a long 3rd & 14.
The Cowboys’ defense would stiffen up after giving up an initial drive touchdown to force a 3 & out.
After a 3 & out on offense, the Cowboys’ defense once again forced a 3 & out, but a roughing the kicker penalty on Sam Williams gave the Bills new life.
2nd Quarter
Allen would again lead his offense down the field, hitting James Cook for an 18-yard touchdown to go up two scores early in the 2nd quarter.
The Cowboys’ offense would get going on the ensuing drive.
On a big 3rd down, Prescott scrambled to the right short of the sticks, but a helmet-to-helmet hit would give Dallas a new set of downs.
Dallas’ next 3rd down attempt would be another conversion, this time a big throw to CeeDee Lamb.
Facing a 3rd & 4 inside the Bills’ 20-yard line, Prescott’s pass was tipped at the line and almost intercepted.
Brandon Aubrey would boot a 32-yard field goal through the uprights to get the Cowboys on the board.
A failure to challenge a close play came back to bite the Cowboys.
Bills’ WR Stefon Diggs had the ball punched out by Donovan Wilson, and a clear recovery by Dallas was made.
Diggs was ruled down before the fumble, and Buffalo hurried the next snap before McCarthy could get a good look.
Big runs by Allen and Cook moved the ball just outside the Cowboys’ endzone.
Two plays later, Allen would power into the endzone himself with 1:36 left in the first half.
Scoring Plays
-Latavius Murray three yard TD run (BUF 7-0)
-James Cook 18 yard TD reception (BUF 14-0)
-Brandon Aubrey 32 yard FG (DAL 3-14)
-Josh Allen one yard TD run (BUF 21-3)
Analysis
Some old demons have shown themselves in the first half for the Cowboys.
Poor rush defense, bone-headed penalties, and not containing a running quarterback are the reasons Dallas faces a deficit at halftime.
Buffalo has rushed for 147 yards in the first half, with young RB James Cook accounting for 104 of those yards on just 15 carries.
Before the hurry-up drive to end the half, Prescott was just 4/9 passing for 37 yards.
The explosiveness we are used to seeing on offense just isn’t there so far today, and an 18-point deficit is the perfect time for those big plays to show up.
Big adjustments need to be made at halftime for the Cowboys to have any chance to win this game.
Time to show them what the MVPrescott can do!
Steph Alexander MVP , What a joke
Garage ass defense when it comes to stopping the run
Brian McVicker the offense didn’t its job and left our defense on field for most of the game … you can’t win when through 3 quarters the offense had 92 total yards … that’s all on offense and the leader in dak ….
John Smith idk why they didn’t throw the challenge flag on that play and that flag running into the kicker they need to change that in the off season
Quinn getting schooled
Dallas can’t play in bad weather, getting their butts kicked . Time to move to next game , Dallas down and out
I need to know why the Cowboys suck????
I can save you some time….non-existent run defense, non-existent offense and dumb penalties. There, you’re welcome
Don Zimmerman rigged game bad calls
I’ve commented several times about idiocy of deferring when you win the toss. So, the Bills go straight the field a score a TD. Who is the idiot who makes that call, he needs to be fired. That said the Cowboys are getting torched anyways.
Bone head penalties for both teams. Bills got a break on the fumble, but so has Cowboys with INTs that DP threw right to the other team but were dropped.
DP overthrew Cooks right out of the box on their first series and has been absolutely horrible throughout the half. Defense is getting run over and that Dawson block on Clark on the Bills TD shows who wants it more.
This will be a BAD lose. Three f-ing points!!! Like I always say, you can trust DP in big games.
Correction, YOU CAN’T TRUST DP IN BIG GAMES!!!
Everybody likes to throw stats around for the cowboys, here’s one 92 yards total in the 4th quarter
Beat down in the making
Sigh… offense has done NOTHING exposing the defense to being on the field for most of the 1st half… our concerns about dak ‘s leadership remains …. Still showing he is not up for it week in and week out … there is a reason this bills team is 7-6 …. and this offense can’t muster anything on a near perfect weather day in buffalo? Wow.. this is why we QUESTION DAK …buffalo is doing what Dallas should do.. go on several long time consuming drives keeping the defense off the field … the best defense is a great offense .. again it is on the offense and dak .. WHERE IS HIS LEADERSHIP?
2nd half .. still no offense .. 92 yards total through 3 quarters.. I see one QB on the field that is leading his team to victory and it is NOT DAK … dak has DISAPPEARED totally .. might as well play cooper rush at 31-3 down …. Another One and done in playoffs… again dak has to prove he can lead us to a SB .. so far he has not and I stand by my belief that DAK WILL NEVER LEAD THIS TEAM TO A SB … I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think so ….3 of the 4 losses has been by DOUBLE DIGITS!!!!! Look at all the LEGIT playoff teams right now Dallas is the only one who has lost by double digits on most of their losses … DOES THAT SOUND LIKE A LEGIT PLAYOFF TEAM TO YOU?
John Smith hey fool new flash if you have zero time to pass you don’t put up big numbers or and you graso it’s the defenses job to get the ball back for the offense not get lit up and run over. Bills ONLY RAN 8 MORE PLAYS IN GAME but defense allowed huge gains all the time. Oh and in those 3 double digit loses DEFENSE gave up 700 rushing yds and over 100 points but yeah it’s Dak’s fault. Go post about bowling maybe you actually know something about that
