The Dallas Cowboys game against the Jacksonville Jaguars is approaching fast, however, many fans fear this game could be a trap for the Cowboys. The way Jacksonville has been playing all year is “Beat the unbeatable teams, lose to the easy ones”. They showed this with wins against Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens. They also proved this with losses to the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos.
This game is screaming a trap at fans because of how the defense works for the Jags. They actually have a well-rounded defense that can stop high-powering offenses from scoring big, hence the Cowboys. This can be a worry to fans when the game comes around.
Not to just talk about how this game could be a trap, but what about if the Cowboys were to lose? I know, it’s a scary topic. Just after being nearly humiliated by the Texans at home, the Cowboys go and lose to the Jags?! A loss like this wouldn’t just be an embarrassment, but would also ruin the Cowboys’ last hope to seal the #1 seed.
Yes, I know the #1 seed is still a bit of a long shot but it’s still possible. The stars have been aligning lately for this to happen. The Cowboys just need to keep winning while having the Philidalhpa Eagles lose at least two games (one of those to the Cowboys on Christmas Eve).
Both teams will have a 14-3 record but since the Cowboys had previously beaten the Eagles they will have moved up to the #1 spot. Yet, a loss to the Jacksonville Jags would be catastrophic for this plan to unfold.
At the moment, the Cowboys are not under any threat to lose their 5th-seed position. They would have to lose just about all their games to get knocked out or down in the playoff race.
Back to the Jags though, Quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be leading the “in the hut” Jags against the Cowboys to try and keep their playoff hopes alive. Although Jacksonville doesn’t have much of a chance to make the playoffs, they are currently in 10th place in the AFC and a strong win like this one would move them up significantly in the race.
That’s just one more reason why this game is a trap. Am I predicting us to lose? No, not really, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if it were to happen. Fans are already on edge after last week’s close call to the Texans and a loss to the Jags would really sting them.
Only time will tell whether or not the Cowboys lose in Jacksonville this Sunday. This should be a fun and interesting game to watch due to a lot of things on the line here. Both quarterbacks will have a lot of pressure on them in this upcoming matchup.
