Week 9 Injury Report: Cowboys are as healthy as can be expected

Prior to the Week 7 bye, the Cowboys listed a whopping 18 players on the injury report throughout the week.

It has since improved drastically, with only two players listed last week versus the Rams.

This week, there are four players on the report, but the only player truly in danger of missing the game is backup LT Chuma Edoga.

As for the Eagles, their injury report is a laundry list, sitting at nine players long, and many of them are starters.

In an ideal world, all nine of those players will miss the game and increase the Cowboys’ chances at victory.

However, would you really feel that great about a win over an injury hobbled Eagles team?

That’s just giving them an excuse ahead of time, and more ammo should they all miss and the Cowboys lose anyway.

Let’s shoot for a fully healthy game to determine who is the best team in the NFC East division.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys officially list four players on their final injury report of the week.

No Designation

WR Michael Gallup (illness), S Jayron Kearse (toe)

Michael Gallup is suffering from an illness according to the Dallas Cowboys.

He did not practice on Wednesday, but was a full participant during Thursday’s practice.

Gallup has not been as effective as we’d like to see this season, but his presence on the field would be welcome against a poor Eagles secondary.

Jayron Kearse is dealing with a toe injury that also kept him out of Wednesday’s practice.

Kearse practiced in full on Thursday, and we should see him be his normal self on Sunday.

Questionable

LT Tyron Smith (neck), LT Chuma Edoga (ankle, knee)

These are perhaps the two biggest question marks heading into Sunday’s game in Philadelphia.

Tyron Smith was ruled out of last week’s game during pre-game warmups with a neck stinger that was limiting the strength in his extremities.

We only found out afterwards that Tyron could have played, but it’s obvious now they were saving him for Philadelphia.

Tyron has not practiced this week, but I imagine it’s the same level of precaution they took last week, and we should see him on the field versus the Eagles.

Tyron’s backup, Chuma Edoga, is dealing with ankle and knee injuries that have limited him in practice this week.

If one or both of these players aren’t able to play, rookie Asim Richards will be in line for playing time.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles officially listed nine players on their injury report for the week.

No Designation

DT Jalen Carter (back), G Sua Opeta (hip), DT Jordan Davis (hamstring), TE Jack Stoll (ankle), DT Milton Williams (shoulder)

The Eagles field some monsters in the middle of their defensive line, and Jalen Carter is the biggest one of them all.

Carter practiced all week, and should be his usual force on Sunday.

Sua Opeta is the backup guard, and looks to be fine recovering from an injured hip.

Jordan Davis is one of three Philadelphia defensive tackles on the injury report, but takes no designation into Sunday.

Backup TE Jack Stoll has an ankle injury, and was limited all week in practice, but is good to go for Sunday.

DT Milton Williams has been playing good football, and is a large part of the Eagles deep rotation on the defensive line.

Out

TE Grant Calcaterra (concussion), CB Bradley Roby (shoulder), RB Boston Scott (personal), G Cam Jurgens (foot)

Depth TE Grant Calcaterra is in the concussion protocol, and has missed practice all week.

Starting nickel CB Bradley Roby has a shoulder injury, and also did not practice the entire week.

This is a big loss in an Eagles’ secondary that is already suspect.

RB Boston Scott is dealing with a personal matter, but should be available Sunday.

Starting G Cam Jurgens tried to make his return to the field this Sunday from a foot injury that has kept him out, but will be out once again.
