As feared, James Washington will miss significant time after today's foot injury. Washington will have surgery tomorrow to repair the fracture and his recovery will likely cross over into the Cowboys' early regular-season games.

The injury occurred earlier this afternoon during a training camp practice.

With Washington now joining as an expected absentee for September, speculation is naturally rampant about Dallas adding a free agent receiver in the near future. But for now, it will be up to rookie Jalen Tolbert, veteran Noah Brown, and other prospects to fill the void.

But as training camp is just getting started, the odds of a free agent signing are higher than if we were closer to Week One.
