It is time for another NFL Sunday, and it’s a big one for the NFC East. Last week, the entire division played against each other, so half these teams are 0-1, and looking to avoid an early-season disaster, while the others are 1-0 and looking to build on a great start.
Only three teams in the division will play today, however, as the Giants kick off on Monday Night Football in Los Angeles.
Still, I’ll preview Week 2 for each NFC East team here, so you can know their injury situation, storylines, and my predictions for their matchups this week. It should (hopefully) be a good week of football, so let’s get right into it.
1. Philadelphia Eagles: Heavily Favored With 2-0 Start in Sight
- Matchup: On Road vs. Titans (-7.0 Point Favorite), 12:00 PM CST Kickoff.
- Expected Major Injuries: EDGE Jonathan Greenard (Out), S Andrew Mukuba (Questionable).
- Biggest Storyline: Can the Eagles have a dominant showing after a shaky win over Washington in Week 1?
Philadelphia did start the year off 1-0 with a win over the Commanders, but it was far from easy. As 5.5-point favorites, they came out on top 24-22 and got a stop on a two-point conversion that would have tied the game with one minute to play.
In Week 2, I see a much stronger performance against a weaker team in the Tennessee Titans, who got beaten handily by the New York Jets, which is something you never want to be able to say. The Titans couldn’t move the ball downfield on offense, and gave up over 150 yards on the ground defensively; barring a stark turnaround, Philly will take advantage of these weaknesses.
2. Washington Commanders: Dan Quinn Must Avoid Hot Seat with an 0-2 Start
- Matchup: On Road vs. Cowboys (-4.0 Point Underdog), 3:25 PM CST Kickoff.
- Expected Major Injuries: LB Frankie Luvu (OUT), TE Chig Okonkwo (OUT).
- Biggest Storyline: Can Washington straighten out their offense against a weak Cowboys D to avoid starting 0-2 in 2026?
It is no secret that Dan Quinn could be fired in Washington if this season is another disappointment, and he did not get off to a great start with that aforementioned loss in Philadelphia. They did some things well, but the offense looked bland, and the defense didn’t do enough to overcome that.
In Week 2, I struggle to see their weak cornerback room holding the Cowboys’ elite wide receivers in check; offensively, their best bet is using Jayden Daniels’s rushing ability, because this is a much better matchup elsewhere for the new Dallas defense. Give me the Cowboys to beat the Commanders in this game.
3. New York Giants: Can Big Blue Take Down Another NFC Giant to Start 2-0?
- Matchup: On Road vs. Rams (-7.0 Point Underdog), 7:15 PM CST Kickoff (Monday Night Football).
- Expected Major Injuries: CB Deonte Banks (QUESTIONABLE), LB Micah McFadden (QUESTIONABLE).
- Biggest Storyline: Are the Giants really a dominant force in the NFC, or was Week 1 a mirage built by another terrible Dallas Cowboys defense?
You couldn’t ask for a better Week 1 than the Giants got, as they got revenge on a team that has beaten them badly for years, and seemingly put the league on notice that they could be legit in 2026. It was an impressive win, no doubt about it; the only question is, can it continue against stronger defenses?
In Week 2, I don’t see it carrying over much, as the Los Angeles Rams are perhaps the NFL’s most talented team, and they are starving for a win after a Week 1 loss in Australia. NYG is a 7-point underdog in this one, so there’s no shame in losing, but will it mess with their mojo/momentum long term?
4. Dallas Cowboys: Week 1 Disaster Leads to a Must-Win Matchup in Week 2
- Matchup: At Home vs. Commanders (-4.0 Point Favorite), 3:25 PM CST Kickoff.
- Expected Major Injuries: LB DeMarvion Overshown (OUT), S Malik Hooker (OUT).
- Biggest Storyline: Can the Cowboys bounce back after a horrid Week 1, or will they start 0-2 for the first time since 2010?
That game against the Giants last week was one of the biggest gut punches I’ve experienced from a regular-season Cowboys game; all the defensive hype, the history of beating up on NYG, and the elite offense claims, just to get whacked, and whacked, and whacked again for four quarters of football. Brutal.
In Week 2, they’ll have to get into a rhythm on offense and step up on defense to avoid disaster with their first 0-2 start in nearly two decades. It might not be easy, but I see it happening — as I said earlier, give me Dallas to defend home field in this game with a win.
