In what will be the first divisional game for both teams, this Week 5 matchup between the 1-3 Dallas Cowboys and the 0-4 New York Giants could end up having a huge impact on the outcome of the NFC East division. Although the Cowboys are heavily favored to win, the Giants are always a team who play them tough until the bitter end. We should expect much the same this week.
This is a game the Dallas Cowboys should win relatively easily. Yes, their defense is a mess and they are having to adjust to several key players being injured, but the Giants are no doubt one of the worst teams in league this year. Because of that I believe the Cowboys will have their way with them Sunday afternoon and I have a few bold predictions that will hopefully help drive my point home.
Here are 5 bold for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5…
✭DeMarcus Lawrence has multiple QB sacks✭
The Dallas Cowboys haven’t played the New York Giants since Week 9 in 2019 and surprisingly enough that is the last time DeMarcus Lawrence had a full quarterback sack. Lawrence’s lack of QB sacks this season is a touchy topic, but I think he could get back in their good graces a bit this week with the multiple sack game I’m predicting for him. Giants QB Daniel Jones has been sacked 14 times already, which is why I think No. 90 puts him in the dirt a couple of times Sunday afternoon.
✭Ezekiel Elliott rushes for 100+ yards✭
Here we are heading into Week 5 of the 2020 season and Ezekiel Elliott surprisingly still doesn’t have a 100-yard rushing game. Sadly his production is taken a bit of a hit this year due to the Dallas Cowboys playing from behind in nearly every game this season, but I think that changes this week against the New York Giants. The Cowboys should be able to get out to a sizable lead, which should allow Zeke to pad his stats all the while controlling the clock to the very end.
✭New York Giants score less than 20 points✭
The Dallas Cowboys defense is no doubt a mess right now. Opponents have scored more than 30 points three out of their four games this season and a high of 38 in back to back weeks. The only time they’ve given up less than 20 points this season so far was in the opener against the Los Angeles Rams (17). I expect that to change this week against the New York Giants because they have yet to score more than 20 points through four weeks of the 2020 season.
✭Dallas Cowboys have zero turnovers✭
The Dallas Cowboys have been on the wrong side of the turnover differential in every game this season. Just last week two turnovers resulted in 14 points for the Cleveland Browns, but I expect that self sabotaging to end this week against the New York Giants. Ezekiel Elliott and Company know how important it is to hold the ball and should do a much better job of not turning it over moving forward. That’s why I think they have zero turnovers in Week 5.
✭Donovan Wilson notches first career INT✭
Donovan Wilson took over for Darian Thompson last week against the Cleveland Browns and ended up playing 93.3% of the defensive snaps. Not only do I believe he deserves to start once again in Week 5, but I also believe he will record his first career interception. Giants QB Daniel Jones is averaging an INT a game this year and I think No. 37 will be on the receiving end of one of his errant throws.
