Cowboys Have Had Success With Pick 24 in NFL Draft

I absolutely hate that I am even thinking about this already, but this is what happens when you can win in the playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys are going to have the 24th overall pick in the draft.

Dallas will have plenty of options when their pick rolls around to choose from.

Both the offense and the defense will need some work with the help of either the draft or a signing/trade.

Former Picks at 24

The Cowboys have had some solid draft selections at 24.

Most recently we have seen Dallas draft Tyler Smith in 2022 who earned his first All-Pro honors this week.

Dallas has been awesome with drafting offensive lineman.

Dez Bryant is another that comes to mind.

The Cowboys traded up in 2010 to draft Bryant at No. 24, he became another great member of the 88 club.

He had a big personality, but you knew he was going to Throw up the X on game day!

Options at 24

When the Cowboys find themselves on the clock at pick 26, they should have solid players left on both sides of the ball.

Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft this season had Dallas taking offensive tackle Jordan Morgan.

Morgan is a senior from Arizona.

He tore his ACL in 2022, but played awesome this season after recovering from it.

With Tyron Smith’s health the last few years, it is time to draft his replacement.

It isn’t the sexiest pick, but Dallas always finds success drafting offensive lineman.

Replacing Smith with Morgan would set Dallas up with a few young studs.

If Dallas doesn’t go this route, they could also go Xavier Worthy a wide receiver from Texas who had over 1,000 yards and 5 touchdowns for the longhorns.

This years draft is also filled with defense.

Guys like Nate Wiggins a corner from Clemson will be there at 24. Also Jer’Zhan Newton a defensive lineman from Illinois.

Newton could be a big help to a defense that can’t stop the run at any level.

Bigger Issues

Regardless of who the Cowboys take in this years draft, they have bigger issues.

Once spring time rolls around, I’ll dive more into who the Cowboys might take after the combine and other important things.

If Dan Quinn doesn’t land a head coaching job, he is probably going to be back next season calling plays.

I was excited about him returning to start the year, but he gave up an average 28.5 points to teams with winning records.

That can’t happen.

At the end of the day, I hate to be writing a draft story when the Cowboys should have been playing this weekend.

A draft pick this year isn’t going to change the outcome out next season, it will only help.

This team will continue to end up in the same spot if they don’t figure something out.

Dak Prescott seems to be returning for another year, same with Mike McCarthy and probably everyone else.

I’m so tired of winning 12 games every year and folding in the playoffs.

Cowboys can pick whomever they want, but until they win in January I don’t really care.
