Cowboys players riding the bubble need a big last preseason game

We have finally hit the last week of preseason, and then we will be able to look ahead to hopefully, CeeDee Lamb being signed and the first game of the year against the Cleveland Browns.

The Dallas Cowboys will be at home for the first time this preseason when they host the Los Angeles Chargers. They rebounded nicely last week and took care of the Las Vegas Raiders. Now with one final game left before they gear up for the regular season, a few players find themselves on the roster bubble.

With a solid performance this Saturday, a few of them could make a case for one of the last roster spots.

Jalen Moreno-Cropper

It is no surprise that without CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys are lacking a heavy wide receiver presence, still one guy finds himself needing a big day Saturday.

Jalen Cropper did not have the greatest game last week.

Cropper fumbled the ball while trying to return a punt. In a game as tight as it was at that time, mistakes like that, even in the preseason, can be costly. The turnover led to a Raiders field goal that gave them a 6-3 lead.

Cropper has already overcome the odds. He was an undrafted free agent who made his way onto the team a season ago, but now with guys like Ryan Flournoy and Tryon Bill-Johnson, Cropper does not have much more room for error.

I expect to see a lot of Cropper and Trey Lance again on Saturday, let’s see if he can show enough to the coaching staff and save himself a roster spot.

Kemon Hall

Kemon Hall is an interesting player, he was claimed off waivers from the 49ers at the end of July, and had given any reason for the Cowboys to keep him on the final 53-man roster, until Sunday.

Hall made two impressive plays in the flat in the 2nd quarter, and then had a nice read of Aidan O’Connell pass at the start of the fourth that he turned into a pick-six.

He has now played himself from off the bubble to on the bubble in my opinion.

Stephon Gilmore signed with the Vikings earlier this week for a whooping 10 million dollars, so any hope of him signing a friendly deal to come back is out the window.

The cornerback room is the best on the team, but depth is never a bad thing.

They will need depth at the cornerback spot, just a matter of who they decide to keep. Hall has given himself a chance after last week.

Viliami Fehoko

If we are being honest, I am not even sure a five sack performance could keep Viliami Fehoko from heading to the practice squad.

Rookie Marshawn Kneeland has been really strong this preseason, and with Dallas just signing Carl Lawson for the edge, Fehoko is running out to chances to make the roster.

Before Lawson was signed, he probably had a better shot, but things are looking slim now.

The Cowboys are going to probably cut a few names and resign them to the practice squad that are not on this list, but that’s what happens.

Saturday afternoon is a big day for not only these three names, but the handful of other players who are on the bubble roster.

It could either go very good or very bad, and If I had to guess right now Hall might be the only player out of these three that makes the roster.

I don’t think Cropper and Fehoko have been good enough even once for them to get a for sure roster spot.
